In Destiny 2, many players are currently occupied with the quest for the new exotic hand cannon Lumina. The weapon impresses especially in PvE with its healing capabilities and buffs. However, in PvP, the Lumina can also make a significant impact when combined with other weapons, as Guardians gradually find out.
What is Lumina? The new exotic hand cannon Lumina was introduced with the Weekly Reset on July 2 in Destiny 2. The weapon is tied to a quest available to all Annual Pass owners.
The Lumina is an exotic hand cannon with 150 RPM, which is equipped in the Kinetic slot. Kills with the weapon leave a kind of sphere that converts into “Noble Rounds” when collected. You can stack up to five shots, which heal and buff allies when shot from the hip.
The healing restores about 3/4 of health, after which health regeneration begins immediately. Additionally, weapon damage is increased for you and the hit Guardian by about 20% in PvP and +35% in PvE for ten seconds.
What about Lumina in PvP? While the Lumina performs well in PvE, its effectiveness in the Crucible has been debated for a long time. What’s the point of having a weapon that can heal when the goal is to eliminate opposing Guardians as quickly as possible?
We also confirmed that the Lumina is a solid weapon in PvP, but it is highly situational and depends on the composition in which you are set up in the Crucible.
However, the Destiny 2 community is undeterred and continues to test new combinations of weapons that, together with Lumina, can dominate in PvP.
How can Lumina be used in PvP? Players can especially benefit from the Lumina in PvP when they have a team member utilizing the weapon. However, effective weapon combinations have already been found for Guardians carrying the exotic hand cannon themselves.
The “simplest” combination for team players is Sturm and Drang together with a teammate using Lumina. The duo Sturm and Drang was recently buffed just before Season 7 and is particularly strong when paired. The perk “Sturm und Stress” causes kills with Drang to reload Sturm and allow a bonus damage round to overflow into the magazine.
Pairing the bonus damage round with the damage buff from Lumina, opposing Guardians can be taken out with just one shot. Players on Reddit have reported eliminating an entire enemy team with just one magazine using Sturm and Drang along with the Lumina buff.

Team players are also expected to have a lot of fun with the exotic bow Le Monarque. However, you will also need a second Guardian to apply the Lumina buff on you. Here, one shot is said to be sufficient to eliminate opposing players.
However, pay attention to ensuring it is a precision shot when multiple Guardians are clustered together: The perk “Poison Arrows” from the bow ensures that arrows fired directly after full draw become poison arrows. Precision shots with poison arrows will also poison nearby enemies.

Solo players should try Lumina once with the hand cannon Slim Edge. The weapon not only has heartbreaking lore but is also equipped in the Energy slot. With Lumina’s buff, Slim Edge should be able to take out even the strongest Guardian in PvP with just two shots.
For Slim Edge, the community recommends the following perks: Fixed Draw and Rampage or Fixed Draw and First Shot.
Hunters can further improve their performance with hand cannons using the exotic leg armor Lucky Pants. The perk “Illegal Enhanced Holster” ensures that precision hits load a bullet into the chamber of stowed hand cannons. Hand cannons are also readier and more accurate immediately after they are selected.
Are you using Lumina in PvP? Have you found other combinations that effectively eliminate opposing Guardians in the Crucible with the new hand cannon?
