In Destiny 2, you can now start the Blind Well on heroic. A Well Plague awaits to be defeated.
Guardians are waiting for the Well Plague: Many players have had a bounty in their inventory for days that they cannot complete. This is called “Cleansing Ritual” and requires you to defeat a Well Plague while ascendant. However, there has been no sign of the Well Plague until now.
That has changed now: Since the Raid “Last Wish” was cracked for the first time and a curse was released, the Well Plague is in the game. Now you can go to the Blind Well and defeat the Well Plague.
Stop, how do I get the bounty? Since the Forsaken launch, you have been receiving tasks called “Cleansing Ritual” in the Dreaming City. These are “Queen’s bounties” that are sent to your inventory upon completion of weekly Petra bounties. We present these Cleansing Rituals in more detail here.
This is how you get to the Well Plague
The way to the Well Plague consists of two steps:
- Master a Level 3 challenge in the Blind Well
- Immediately activate the heroic event by using an Instable Light Charge. Now the Well Plague will spawn for you to eliminate.
How do I start the heroic event exactly?
- A Level 3 Light Charge costs 20 Dark Fragments from Petra. A player must activate this in the Blind Well.
- Play all phases of the Level 3 challenge, defeat the big bosses at the end while utilizing the Harmony buff. Recommended Power Level is 560. You can find tips and advice for the Blind Well here.
- Once the Level 3 challenge is mastered, you have only a few seconds to use an Instable Light Charge in the pillar in the middle of the room. Do this and the heroic event will start. This is essentially the 4th level of the Blind Well.
- An Instable Light Charge costs 35 Dark Fragments from Petra. A player must have it.
This is how you defeat the Well Plague
This week, the Well Plague Sikariis with Varkuuriis awaits you.
- You can only take down the opponents’ shield by shooting at the exploding Shriekers when they are next to the Well Plague. The explosion of the Shriekers damages the shield.
- Watch out for the Ether Torches that additionally protect the boss. These must be destroyed before the explosions, otherwise they do not harm the boss’s shield.
- Once the shield is destroyed, you can deal damage to the boss.
- To complete the bounty “Cleansing Ritual”, you must activate the Queen’s Leaf Elixir in time before the kill. This will make you ascendant, which is a requirement for the bounty. You can find out how to quickly obtain Queen’s Leaf Elixir here.
- Recommended Power Level is 580. Therefore, it is best to start the challenge with many guardians together. The challenge has a time limitation.
- Upon completion, you will receive Powerful Gear – once per week and per character.
Is that the only Well Plague? If you look at the Triumphs for the Dreaming City, you will see that besides Sikariis, the Taunts Champion, there are two other Well Plagues in the Blind Well:
- Cragur, a Hive Champion
- and Inomina, a Scorn Champion
These three Well Plagues unlock their own Triumphs. Presumably, the other two Well Plagues will be next in line in the coming weeks and will require different mechanics.
