In Destiny 2, you can now get the new weapon exotic Hawkmoon. MeinMMO explains how to do it and where to find all the hidden feathers for it.
This is the exotic weapon: Guardians have been waiting a long time, but now the popular Destiny 1 exotic “Hawkmoon” is back. The 140 hand cannon returns in a revamped form and no longer relies on luck:
- For every precise hit or kill, you collect stacks that grant bonus damage to the last round in the magazine.
- The damage can go through the roof and even send enemy Guardians to the virtual afterlife with just one hit, knocking everything but bosses in PvE down.
- Additionally, Hawkmoon is the first exotic that can have random rolls – where the perks change.
Before you can try out this new toy, you must complete a whole series of tasks and quests. MeinMMO provides all the important info in this article and shows you the locations of all necessary collectibles in the video guide.
Are there prerequisites for this? Yes. You must own Season 12, the Season of the Hunt. Also, you should have completed at least one Wrathborn Hunt, a seasonal activity, with the Crow. Only then can you tackle the multi-part quest regarding the hand cannon Hawkmoon and claim the exotic.
How to start the exotic quest: Head to the NPC Spider. You can find the black market dealer in his usual hideout in the Tangled Shore. Talk to Spider and take the quest “As the Crow Flies” from him.
Now, you need to find 5 golden feathers spread across the entire solar system. Afterwards, complete a series of missions for the Crow (Uldren). So plan for one or two evenings.
Destiny 2: Find all 5 paracausal feathers for Hawkmoon
The golden feathers you are to collect will not be shown via quest markers. However, you will receive a cryptic hint text in the quest overview regarding their locations.
Feather 1 in the Tangled Shore:
- You can find the first feather close to Spider in the Tangled Shore.
- Right at the entrance to his hideout, where you have to dismount from your Sparrow, the feather is on a crate with a Fallen symbol.
- If you just came from Spider, exit his hideout and just before the exit, the crate with the feather is on your left.
Feather 2 in the EDZ on Earth:
- Head to the “The Sludge” area in the European Dead Zone (EDZ) – just use the fast travel point.
- You will see a metal structure jutting out from a warehouse on a hill just before the Lost Sector “The Conflux”.
- Jump onto the rusty platform and collect the second feather there.
Feather 3 in the Cosmodrome:
- Select the Cosmodrome on Earth and land in the “The Steppes” area.
- The third feather is located directly at your spawn point.
- Just jump onto the pillar (or the piece of wall) in front of you – you will see the spaceships of the Cosmodrome in the background.
- Here you will then find the object of desire.
Feather 4 in the Dreaming City:
- When you land in the Dreaming City, you are in the “Shattered Isles” area – this is also where the fourth feather is located.
- Head to the central gate in the rock wall that you can see from a distance.
- Directly on the left in the archway to the Blind Well you will find the feather on a ledge.
Feather 5 on the Moon:
- Land in the “Shrine” on the Moon.
- Your goal is the Shrine of Oryx.
- To do this, you need to go into the “Guardians’ Line” area and through the fallen building with the dome – here is the entrance to the Hive cave system.
- Descend deeper into the “Halls of Wisdom” area.
- Here, turn left into the long tunnel with the many tubes.
- You are now in the “Shrine of Oryx”. Follow the tunnel until you reach a round room.
- Next to the small stairs on the left, you will finally find the fifth feather on the dark ground.
You have now completed the quest “As the Crow Flies”. However, you are far from getting Hawkmoon. Now you must master the quest line “Open Your Talons”.
What Crow wants from you in the quest “Open Your Talons”
After that, visit Crow in the Tangled Shore. There will be some collecting and kill tasks as well as two missions. You will be assisted by waypoints and a golden falcon, which will guide you along the way.
Once you have completed the individual missions, head back to Crow in the Tangled Shore. Here you will always receive the next task. MeinMMO briefly summarizes all tasks and gives tips.
Step 1 – complete the mission “Cry from the Beyond”: Fly to the area “The Sludge” in the EDZ. Here you will find the golden falcon via quest marker, where you will start the mission in the recently discovered area.
Create or collect 50 Orbs of Power:
- Use masterwork weapons and your super
- You can quickly do this in the Blind Well.
- Alternatively, in the Crucible from December 8th to December 15th, the ‘Witch’s Cauldron’ is active – here, it’s quick as a warlock (well) or titan (bubble).
Collect another 5 feathers – this time all in the EDZ:
- Follow your quest marker into the “Trostland” of the EDZ.
- Right behind the church, you will find the golden falcon at the top of a collapsed house.
- Follow the door behind the bird and head into the “Reservoir”.
- You will see a sewer pipe; follow its course and you will have 4 of the 5 feathers clearly marked.
- The 5th feather awaits after a boss fight at the end of the location (where the boss from the “Lake of Shadows” strike is).
The boss is shielded. Take out his possessed adds and throw the orbs (relics) left behind at the boss to break his shield.
Defeat champions or guardians:
- Eliminate either 200 guardians in PvP or Gambit
- Or about 35 champions (each gives you around 3%).
The fastest way to do this is probably to start an imperial hunt at 1,220. In each activity, about 6 champions await you, and you won’t need more than 10 minutes for a run. If your level is high enough, you can also start a challenging fire trial and let yourself be taken out after the first champion kills to start again.
Meanwhile, you farm the new exotic “Cloudstrike” in the imperial hunts:
This is how you forge the Hawkmoon: The last mission sends you back to the new area of the EDZ. This time, however, the recommended power level is 1,220. Make sure you have an inventory slot free for your kinetic weapons.
Now, follow the golden falcon again – it will show you where to maneuver. However, you will also need to master some tricky jumps.
- So pack your movement exotics or increase your mobility.
- You can also use a sword to leave the first-person perspective.
- If you want to build platforms with the new stasis glacier grenade, you can try that as well.
- At the end, there will be a longer fight against the possessed – once again, you need to take down small enemies and throw the orbs left behind at the shielded enemies.
During the fight, you will receive the Hawkmoon. Eliminate the last enemies and the boss with it.
