In Destiny 2 you can earn the Exotic Agers Scepter. To obtain the new Stasis weapon, you must complete the quest “A Hopeless Crown.” MeinMMO shows you all the locations of the necessary Atlas images and tells you what the Trace Rifle can do.
In Season 15, the Season of the Lost in Destiny 2, you can finally obtain the new Exotic Agers Scepter after weeks of waiting. This unique Stasis weapon is guaranteed after a quest. MeinMMO shows you how to complete the tasks quickly and what the fresh Trace Rifle can do.
Here’s how to start “A Hopeless Crown”:
- If you own the Season Pass for Season 15, you can pick up the quest “A Hopeless Crown” at the Wayfinder’s Compass after the reset on September 14, 2021.
- So, visit the H.E.L.M. above the Tower and select the yellow symbol with the falcon.
- You must have completed the mini-quests “On the Trail of the Stars” 1-3 from previous weeks.
How long does the quest take? Plan for “A Hopeless Crown” to take a full evening. You should expect to need about 2 to 3 hours if you know how to get everything done—MeinMMO will help you with that.
Even though the 12 quest steps may seem time-consuming at first, most tasks can be completed quickly. You do not need to enter PvP. There are some strikes and seasonal activities, along with several story dialogues between you and the new Exotic Agers Scepter.
Find all 5 Atlas Images in the Confluence of Destiny 2
You will also need to return to the Dreaming City in Week 4. This time, all 5 new Atlas images can be found in the hidden area “The Confluence.”
For this, you need to jump to the hidden portal at the bridge in front of the cathedral from the “Keres’ Ridge” after heading left from the spawn. Just like when you had to walk to the dungeon “Shattered Throne”—don’t forget to equip your Exotics for faster movement:

If you haven’t found the Atlas images from the first 3 weeks of Season 15, here are all the locations:
- Week 1: On the Trail of the Stars 1
- Week 2: On the Trail of the Stars 2
- Week 3: On the Trail of the Stars 3
Select the next quest step now via the H.E.L.M. Here you will not need to fight, but only turn in all Atlas images and listen to the longer conversations from Crow and Mara. Afterwards, a portal opens, and you can see the weapon right in front of you.
Unfortunately, you are not allowed to take the Exotic yet – Mara has some errands and other Guardian tasks for you in the next quest steps.
What you need to complete for “A Hopeless Crown”
The next quest steps will be completed in the seasonal activity “Astral Alignment” of Season 15. Once you have completed the first two tasks, the next two tasks will trigger directly. You should spend about 4-5 rounds in the seasonal activity.
These are the quest steps:
- Collect 100 Parallax Fragments: You receive this seasonal resource for completing activities.
- Defeat enemies in “Astral Alignment” with rifles: Many weapons count here, such as sniper rifles, automatic rifles, or fusion rifles—let loose in the seasonal activity of the Dreaming City.
- Defeat 18 champions: Equip the right mods against the powerful champions. Fortunately, you do not have to land the final blow for it to count as a kill for you.
- Achieve 20 kills with your super.
How to find Noble Runes in Strikes: Mara will ask you for 3 Noble Runes next—these are obtained from 3 specific Strikes from the chest after the boss.
- Lake of Shadows in the EDZ (European Dead Zone)
- Fallen in the Cosmodrome
- The Glassway on Europa
You do not need to complete the strikes in the Vanguard rotation and wait for the corresponding mission to randomly appear. Just select the 3 strikes directly at the 3 locations and run them quickly without modifiers.
This is how the quest ends: The next quest steps only consist of visits to Mara Sov, and then you can finally pick up your exotic reward at the H.E.L.M. Make sure you have inventory space—you will need the weapon within seconds.
After that, there will be a short boss fight, during which you will shoot with your new Trace Rifle. Now you have completed the quest “A Hopeless Crown!”
Agers Scepter: The first Stasis Trace Rifle of Destiny 2
What can the new Exotic do? Agers Scepter is a trace rifle that belongs in the kinetic slot but deals Stasis damage. Like all trace rifles, it requires special ammo (green). It fires a continuous beam as long as you hold down the trigger.
These are the exotic perks: Like all trace rifles, Agers Scepter has several special features. These come from the exotic perks:
- Agers Call: Precision hits create an explosion that slows enemies (Bungie undersells it here, because you freeze everything that is slowed)
- Regas Refrain: Stasis precision hits reload the magazine (from reserve)
- It also features a large 97-round magazine and a 1000 RPM with maximum stability
This is how the Stasis weapon plays: After a short time, you will notice that the weapon quickly defeats entire waves of adds. After a kill, everything around the enemy freezes generously—let the ice pillars shatter and enjoy the chain reaction. The Exotic is perfect for refining Stasis builds and is likely to please many who are looking for something widespread to clean up after the nerf to Warmind Cells.
You can hold down the trigger and practically never need to reload. It creates a euphoric loop—Agers Scepter simply provides enjoyment in the small things: Shooting continuously and enjoying (Stasis) explosions.
However, the weapon has the problem that you devour your ammo so quickly—matching ammo mods are therefore essential. Those worried that the weapon will ruin PvP can be reassured. Precision hits only slow targets in the Crucible and do not freeze immediately.

What about the Masterwork Catalyst for Agers Scepter?
The new Exotic has a Catalyst. However, it will only be available in the game starting September 21. Bungie announced this officially (via Twitter).
You can find the exotic Masterwork Catalyst randomly upon completing the seasonal activity “Astral Alignment.”
According to data miners, Agers Scepter will deal more damage as a Masterwork when you sacrifice your super. The Catalyst overloads the magazine and gives the Exo more power, but gradually draws energy from your super. Whether the Catalyst will come into the game like this is not officially confirmed.
