With the War Spirit expansion, Destiny 2 received a new matchmaking system for the Crucible among other things. This was supposed to make life a little easier for solo players when facing fixed teams. However, in the 6vs6 Iron Banner, this system is not yet operational. Bungie aims to improve this.
Solo players are struggling in the Iron Banner: According to player reports, it has become noticeably easier for solo players since the introduction of Fireteam Matchmaking (FTMM) when they have to compete against fixed teams in the Crucible. However, in the ongoing 6vs6 Iron Banner, many fans are having completely different experiences.

Numerous Guardians report devastating defeats and helplessness against clans and fixed groups in the Iron Banner. Randomly assembled teams of individual players currently see no chance in PvP. Many fans vented their frustration on Reddit. After all, it works noticeably better in the regular Crucible now. It is becoming clear why.
Fireteam matchmaking coming soon to the 6vs6 Iron Banner
Crucible Lead Derek Carroll stated on Twitter that the recently introduced FTMM is not yet helping solo players in the 6vs6 currently. Apparently, the system is only active in the normal PvP so far.
However, work is already underway on a solution. An adjustment is to be made before the end of the one-week PvP event – that is, before May 29. This should make the effect of fireteam matchmaking noticeable soon for lone wolves in the 6vs6. However, Carroll did not specify a precise date for the update.
UPDATE:
As DeeJ announced on Twitter, the matchmaking fix for solo players in the Iron Banner will not be ready before the end of the ongoing PvP event. Further details will follow.
What experiences have you had as a solo player in the current Iron Banner? Was it as tough for you as many users report on Reddit?
