With Destiny 2, the Trials are coming up. Therefore, the class focuses and abilities like the shoulder charge or the hand supernova are being revised. We show how the adjustments look for Season 10.
Why the adjustments? In Season 10, the Trials of Osiris will finally return. Since the Trials should not celebrate their return “half-heartedly”, Bungie will make adjustments to the sandbox and PvP balance.
The basis for the changes is gathered in-game data. Bungie tracks the “win rates of each focus in each crucible game mode up to the kills per minute,” states the TWaB from February 28.
But besides the cool data, the Destiny developer also collects player feedback. To what changes in the Trials the heated discussions have recently led, you can read here:
The most powerful abilities will be trimmed in Season 10
To ensure more fairness in PvP, changes will be made to the so-called “one-shots”, or the instantly lethal abilities, for all three Guardian classes. Additionally, there will be fundamental changes to a melee and a class ability.
Changes for the Hunter
This is how the Balanced Knife will be revised: With the Way of the Sharpshooter (3-shot Golden Gun), the Hunter has access to the Balanced Knife.
This is what happens to the ability:
- The target tracking will be significantly reduced
- A new targeting technique will improve the knife’s initial throw trajectory
The range melee will still kill with one hit in PvP, but now emphasis will be placed more on aiming.
Changes for the Titan
This is how the shoulder charge will be revised: Adjustments will be made to the shoulder charge for all three subclasses of the Titan. It will still be instantly lethal, but this will change:
- The angle for auto-targeting will be reduced by 50%
- The general range will be set to 5.5 meters. Previously, targeted attacks (an opponent nearby) had 6 meters range, and a non-aimed attack had 4.5 meters range.
According to Bungie, “acrobatic Titans” could track their target from a quick 90° turn. The uniform range should make the ability feel generally smoother.
This is changing with the barricade: The Titan can create a shield wall, the barricade, with his class ability. The ability is being revised as follows:
- The hit points of the barricade will be increased from 500 to 600
- A type of health display (barricade counter) for the ability will be introduced
Additionally, starting in Season 10, some weapons and anti-barrier rounds will deal additional damage to the barricade. The bonus damage will be indicated by yellow damage numbers.
These weapons deal 30% additional damage to barricades:
- Sniper rifles
- Grenade launchers
- Linear fusion rifles
- Machine guns
- Trace rifles
- Anti-barrier weapons
These weapons deal 60% additional damage to barricades:
- Shotguns
- Fusion rifles
The changes are taking place because the barricade will be a powerful tool for reviving in the Trials. Players can then weigh whether to use their valuable special ammunition to break through the slightly stronger shield wall faster.
Changes for the Warlock
This is how the hand supernova will be revised: The Warlock has an instantly lethal ability with the tuning of the splitting (Nova Warp): the hand supernova. The following changes are made to the converted grenade:
- Activation time increased by 0.6 seconds
- Duration reduced from 3.5 to 2.5 seconds
- Range reduced by 20%
- Horizontal spread of the balls narrowed by 25%
- Bullet explosion now causes self-damage
- Bullet explosion radius reduced from 3 m to 2.5 m
With the adjustments, using the ability will be slightly riskier, but it will still remain very powerful. Additionally, the exotic gloves Controversial Hold will be revised. These are specialized for the hand supernova.
The Warlock melee will be changed: The melee attack of the Warlock will receive a buff:
- Melee range will be increased by one meter (to 5.5 meters)
The Warlock has lagged behind the other two classes in melee. This is due to a disproportionately longer recovery period after a melee. Follow-up hits and other actions were too slow.
The new largest melee range will be closely monitored by Bungie. By the way, the Warlock already had the largest melee distance in Destiny 1.
Outlook on further changes to the focuses
Unpopular classes will be improved: According to Bungie, many classes will be revised with the start of the Season of Worthy. The reason for this is that some focuses have been very dominant for several seasons, while others are rarely used.
As a result, adjustments will be made to:
- Stormcaller Warlock (top) – Tuning of the transfer
- Striker Titan (bottom) – Code of the Juggernaut
- Arcstrider Hunter (bottom) – Way of the Wind
These class paths will get “a little love”:
- Voidwalker Warlock (bottom) – Hunger tuning
- Voidwalker Warlock (middle) – Tuning of the splitting
- Nighthawk Hunter (bottom) – Way of the Pathfinder
- Striker Titan (middle) – Code of the Rocket
The Destiny developer wants to introduce further changes and adjustments for the next season in the coming days and weeks. The exact details will also be expected in the patch notes on March 10.
