A bug in the player search of Gambit currently causes you to be temporarily excluded from Destiny 2 from this mode before you even start a match. What is going on?
This is what happened: Shortly before the release of the Black Armory, some players reported that the game prevents them from participating in the Gambit mode for a while, even though they have not participated in a match yet. The reason is apparently a bug in the player search.
This is how the error manifests in Gambit: Guardians reported that after canceling player searches several times in a row and exiting the matchmaking process for Gambit, it simply took too long, and they were not assigned any additional players.

However, even though all of this happened during the player search, that is, before the actual match began, they were subsequently temporarily excluded from the Gambit mode. They then received an in-game message saying, “You left a Gambit match before it was finished. Leaving Gambit matches negatively affects the experience of other players.”
Bungie is already on it: In the corresponding Reddit thread, which now has over 2,000 upvotes and over 500 comments, Bungie has also spoken out.
The community manager Cozmo thanked for the numerous reports and stated that the studio is already looking into this problem. So this is indeed a bug and not a new, more aggressive penalty system for some activities. When exactly there will be a solution for this is not known.

This is why this bug is so annoying: That there are penalties for leaving a match early is no longer a secret. Bungie has communicated this clearly and repeatedly. However, the penalties are actually intended for leaving an ongoing game and not for matchmaking—and that is what makes this error so annoying for many.
Because the player search can sometimes really take a long time. Moreover, it is also a common practice for many solo players to avoid encounters with fixed 4-player teams. These teams then leave the matchmaking as soon as they realize they are being matched against a set group. These players are also now penalized.

The Crucible also seems to be affected: As further fans report in the Gambit thread, this matchmaking bug apparently is not only active in Gambit mode. After reports about this problem emerged, some fans tested whether it also applies to the Crucible. They found that this error currently also occurs there during player search.
