Rank 3: Anarchy
The exotic grenade launcher Anarchy is used by 5.65% of all Guardians – just 0.1% more than rank 4. The power weapon is responsible for 3.74% of all deaths of PvE enemies. In the ranking of most popular Exotics from Beyond Light, Anarchy also took 3rd place.
Why is the weapon so popular? Anarchy does not fire conventional grenades but sticky mines. These deal damage over time.
- This way, you can lay Arc traps on the ground or connect multiple mines, which leaves a damage field behind.
- Anarchy is feared by the strongest enemies since Guardians fire 2 shock grenades directly at the boss, then switch their weapon and deal damage with 2 guns.
- Since Beyond Light, the Exotic can be purchased conveniently at the kiosk. For those who did not have raid luck in the past, they can now specifically get Anarchy – but you will need to pay for very expensive resources.
- Anarchy is mostly used during boss phases and especially in hard content, you can’t go wrong with the Exotic.
If you want to combine your loadout wisely, pair the newcomer Plunderer Salvo with it. This way, many of the perks on armor that improve grenade launchers will benefit both the special and power weapon.
Rank 2: Heir
Heir is the legendary precision shotgun from the “Deep Stone Crypt” raid, earning the silver medal with a usage rate of 8.20%. In kills, this means: 3.11% of all PvE foes die from the slug rounds of the shotgun.
Why is the weapon so popular?
- Heir benefits from the same bonuses as Workaholic: high range, strong damage per shot, and safe usage from a Warlock well.
- Additionally, Heir deals kinetic damage, which translates to 10% more damage and the unique perk pool as a raid weapon.
- Heir is the best special weapon in many boss phases, but also in every PvE activity, almost every stronger mid-tier enemy gets taken out with one or a few shots.
No nerf is in sight for slug shotguns, and there is no reason why Heir should lose popularity anytime soon. For months, it has been the most popular legendary weapon, outclassed only by one exotic.
Rank 1: The Lament
How could it be otherwise, the exotic sword The Lament reigns above all other weapons in Destiny 2. Its usage rate is at 9.05%. In terms of kills, it looks good too: 5.05% of all PvE enemies die by the blade. Compared to last season, both values have slightly decreased, but The Lament has been the most popular and probably best PvE weapon for months.
Why is the weapon so popular? Since its overhaul, every Guardian has been told: “take a sword with you!” The melee weapons deal immense damage and never need to reload (but still require ammo).
The Lament is practically the crown of popular swords:
- No other weapon deals continuous damage as much.
- Every second kill gives you valuable ammo back.
- By hitting with the blade, the wielder heals – allowing for continuous butchery.
- With “Banshee’s Wail,” the blade ignites, leading to more damage and a new move set that allows you to perform stylish leaps as finishers.
- The weapon breaks shields and even the defense of barrier champions.
- For all Guardians with Beyond Light, The Lament is guaranteed through a longer quest, which isn’t too difficult.
- If you want to maximize the exotic sword’s potential, you must know the right combos: Destiny 2 has a new, strongest weapon – You’re just playing it wrong
Bungie seems to want to curb the exotic king in Season 14, starting in May 2021. A whole 16% less damage will be dealt by the intensified attack then. Whether this will be enough to make space at the top remains to be seen.
Did you expect these rankings or was there a weapon that surprised you? Which of the listed guns do you personally use – feel free to share your thoughts with the other Guardians in the comments.
