In Destiny 2, players have access to over 800 exotic and legendary weapons. We show you which 10 of these are most popular in the Season of the Splicer for PvE and why these powerful guns should not be missing from any loadout.
You can find it here: Each season, choosing the right loadout in Destiny 2 becomes more difficult. Old favorites and new weapons compete for the Guardians’ popularity. MeinMMO shows you the top 10 of the most popular legendary and exotic weapons from Season 14.
This time, the list is particularly exciting, as a bunch of newcomers is shaking up the old meta. The former number 1 is not even in the ranking anymore – even such classics as Falling Guillotine are missing here.
Where do the numbers come from? We refer to the data from Destinytracker.com (as of 30.06.2021).
- The database lists the percentage usage and also indicates how many kills each weapon is responsible for.
- If the numbers seem quite low to you, consider how many weapons Guardians equip and how many ways enemies can bite the dust.
- We provide the location for each weapon as well as an explanation for its popularity.
Rank 10: Chromatin Rumble
The legendary auto rifle has been newly added in Season 14, and 2.68% of all Guardians use it. The kinetic weapon accounts for 3.85% of all kills in PvE.
Why is the weapon so popular?
- Chromatin Rumble is a fast-firing 720 auto rifle with a large magazine. It has an incredible base stability of 60 and an aim assist of 80. This way, the hail of bullets lands where the enemies stand.
- You obtain Chromatin Rumble from the seasonal activities “Override” and “Excision”. You can also farm the new weapon specifically through the Umbral Engrams.
- Keep an eye out for the new perks rolling on the seasonal splicer weapons. Alternatively, you also have strong classics like Kill Clip available. Just a versatile primary weapon.
- If you have corrupted key codes, you can even obtain the auto rifle with an additional perk slot. This increases the chances for a God roll or lets you cover two situations with the interchangeable perks.
The rapid-fire ARs have long been overlooked by many Guardians and are now (rightfully) enamored by Chromatin Rumble.
Rank 9: Sheltered
The legendary fusion rifle Sheltered is the new quest weapon of Season 14, and 2.69% of all Guardians swear by it. However, with only 1.85% of all kills, the Void weapon is not that deadly in PvE, right?
Why is the weapon so popular?
- Quest weapons are sought after by Guardians as they unlock strong legendaries through a quest. You have the freedom to choose whether you want to complete strikes, Gambit, or Crucible matches. MeinMMO tells you how to get Sheltered quickly.
- Sheltered offers two options in both perk slots. This way, you can tailor the weapon to your preferences.
- Either you focus on fast reloading and increased damage with a charged magazine or you choose better precision and more damage when you run out of ammo.
- On top of that, Sheltered is for many the question of the moment 2.0. This popular top weapon is now in retirement, but has passed on its signature perk Backup Mag to Sheltered.
Sheltered plays with versatility and easy availability into the hearts of the Guardians. What is currently recommended by the pros in Destiny 2:
Rank 8: Ignition Code
Ignition Code proves: new is (always) better. This legendary grenade launcher also arrived new in Season 14 for Destiny 2. The weapon is in 2.88% of all loadouts and accounts for 2.76% of all PvE kills.
Why is the weapon so popular?
- Ignition Code belongs to the 90s grenade launchers with kinetic damage. These require special ammunition, but have only one shot before you need to reload. Passively, this category increases your movement speed.
- You obtain Ignition Code from the seasonal activities “Override” and “Excision”. You can also farm the new weapon specifically through the Umbral Engrams.
- The perks leave nothing to be desired: blinding grenades to control hordes, or smart grenades for more damage? The otherwise rare perk Frenzy, healing, more super energy, two shots before reloading – everything is included. Virtually every roll of Ignition Code has something to offer.
- You will see grenade launchers more often in this list. This is due to the seasonal artifact that is currently strongly boosting the category through its mods.
Rank 7: Legacy
Now something older: Legacy is the legendary precision shotgun from the “Deep Stone Crypt” raid and is used by 3.23% of players. In kills, that translates to only 0.85% of all PvE enemies dying from the shotgun – the lowest value on this list.
Why is the weapon so popular?
- The kinetic weapon fires only one projectile compared to traditional shotguns, instead of a wide spread load – this is called a “slug shotgun”.
- These slugs have very high range and slugs are after their PvE buff the strongest shotguns against bosses that can be fired safely from a Warlock Well.
- As a kinetic weapon, Legacy deals 10% more damage than elemental weapons. Additionally, the unique perk pool of raid weapons: like all weapons from the Deep Stone Crypt, Legacy can drop with the powerful perk “Reconstruction” that automatically reloads the magazine and doubles the size on top of that.
- The low kill rate comes from the fact that this weapon is a boss killer and is not often used against weak adds.
As we predicted in previous lists, Legacy will remain popular until a nerf for slug shotguns arrives (and none is in sight). However, since the ranking from Season 13, the top shotgun has indeed lost 5 places.
Rank 6: Plunderer’s Salvo
The grenade launcher Plunderer’s Salvo was introduced in Season 13. Today, 3.87% of Guardians use the quest weapon and a respectable 8.44% of all PvE kills are credited to this weapon.
Why is the weapon so popular?
- Anyone can obtain the powerful grenade launcher through a quest – even directly as a masterwork. Whether you go for PvP, PvE, or Gambit is up to you: Here’s how to quickly get the new grenade launcher in Destiny 2 – How strong is it?
- In contrast to many other legendary weapons, you have more freedom in perk selection. Quest weapons always come with fixed perks, but you can choose from two options depending on the situation.
- This allows you to double the magazine, create chain reactions upon kills, deal more damage against bosses, or choose “Demolisher” which is used for many builds.
- Plunderer’s Salvo also benefits greatly from the seasonal artifact of Season 14: faster reloading, more ammo, many orbs of power, higher handling, anti-champion effect, and boss killer mod, everything is included.
The easy availability and versatility ensure that the special weapon with Arc damage is even more popular than in the previous season. Last time, Plunderer’s Salvo was still in 9th place.
On the next and last page, we continue with an even stronger grenade launcher.
