This week, the Summer event Solstice of Heroes in Destiny 2 has begun. The festival brings not only a new activity but also daily changing elemental buffs. Bungie has learned from the past: The competitive PvP and Gambit Prime are safe from the Solstice enhancements.
What does the event bring? Currently, the Summer event Solstice of Heroes is taking place in Destiny 2. In addition to armor that needs to be upgraded and a new event zone, players receive daily changing elemental buffs. These not only enhance the element of the day but also bring various properties:
- With full solar enhancement, players emit a wave of solar energy that deals damage around them.
- With void enhancement, players who crouch become invisible and gain “truesight”, the perk of the exotic bow Wishender and the Spectral Blades Hunter. This allows enemies to be seen and marked even behind walls or objects.
- A arc enhancement increases movement speed and boosts damage from melee attacks and swords.
A buff is obtained by collecting 30 orbs of an element.
Here we have more tips for the Solstice of Heroes.

In which modes are the buffs not active? Basically, you can generate elemental spheres in all activities – except in competitive PvP and Gambit Prime. Since these buffs are so powerful, Bungie has completely disabled them in these two modes.
To collect the elemental spheres in other activities, you just need to equip the appropriate focus (solar, arc, or void) and defeat enemies with your abilities. Or you use a weapon with the element you currently need.
Why were the buffs deactivated? The enhancement of elemental spheres is not insignificant and can seriously disrupt PvP in the right hands.
With the deactivation of the Solstice buffs, Bungie learned from the Spring event “Feasting”. At that time, players were up in arms because the “Feasting Elixir” was also active in all PvP modes.

The elixir brought various buff effects that reduced the following cooldowns:
- grenade
- melee
- or class ability
During the event, players particularly criticized the use of the elixir in the competitive PvP playlist. Players complained about nearly endless grenade and ability spam.
PvP players who feared the effects of the Solstice on competitive PvP can now breathe a sigh of relief.
By the way: If you don’t want to do without the Solstice buffs in the Crucible, you can play the normal Quickplay. In Quickplay, it’s possible to generate elemental orbs and thus gain the enhancement.
