In Destiny 2 you were able to defeat powerful raid bosses in just a few seconds recently due to a bug with an exotic item.
Which Exotic is it? Bungie announced on November 26, 2024, that they would temporarily activate the exotic gloves “Icicle Wrathweaver.” The Exotic had last caused more damage than intended due to a bug.
The Icicle Wrathweaver appeared in 2023 with the Lightfall expansion and is an exotic glove for the Warlock that enhances the shockwaves of the Stasis super “Winter’s Wrath.”
With the Icicle Wrathweaver, enemies you froze previously with Winter’s Wrath suffer increased shatter damage. The Exotic works well in combination with the Stasis super.

What was wrong with the Exotic? According to Bungie, the Icicle Wrathweaver caused too much damage due to a bug and was therefore disabled (via X.com).
Accordingly, you could deal extreme damage with Winter’s Wrath if you first attacked a boss with weapons like the Withering Collector or Anarchy (weapons that deal damage over time), then froze and attacked the respective enemy.
YouTuber Llama demonstrated the absurd damage you could inflict this way in a video. He defeated various raid bosses like Crota, Oryx, Riven, and The Witness in just a few seconds, as if they were simple NPC enemies like regular Cabal or Vex (via YouTube).
On Reddit, the temporary deactivation of the Exotic is only moderately discussed. Many players express understanding for Bungie’s intervention because the damage was way too high and harmed the game.
However, other users joke that the Exotic had finally done good damage against bosses due to the bug. Some are also sad because they wanted to test the bug after work and the Exotic is already disabled now.
