Destiny 2 has been on a good path for many years to deal with cheaters. Staff and an anti-cheat program were supposed to put a stop to the fraudsters, but since Bungie triggered a wave of layoffs, players see no good future for PvP.
What is the problem in PvP? Destiny 2 has struggled with cheaters for years. They were rampant everywhere and in every mode and were not only present on PC platforms. Bungie therefore decided to change their strategy. Since the reintroduction of Trials of Osiris Bungie implemented a new anti-cheat system – “BattleEye”.
With BattleEye and a team of developers, cheaters should be banned from the servers better and, above all, in a timely manner so that PvP players can play Destiny 2 relaxed. So far so good, but since Bungie decided to lay off many of its employees, including a large part of its security team, the situation in PvP is getting worse.
Here you can find the trailer for the new dungeon of Destiny 2:
Streamers can only laugh in the Trials of Osiris
To demonstrate how ridiculous the situation in the Crucible is regarding cheaters, GernaderJake, a well-known PvP player of Destiny 2, published a video. In this, Jake is in the Trials of Osiris with his team.
It is 4 to 3 for him, and they are just waiting for the right moment to strike until the enemy appears over them and destroys Jake’s entire team with an SMG.
You can find the video in GernaderJake’s Twitter post:
Jake himself said he played 8 matches that morning, of which 5 were against cheaters. He cannot understand how Bungie demands money from its community every few months and still allows such things to happen.
Why is the cheater problem getting worse? A few weeks ago, Bungie underwent a wave of layoffs. Many well-known faces from the development and support of Destiny 2 were fired, because Bungie could not meet its commercial goals from Lightfall.
Insider reports also said that many employees from the security teams of Destiny 2 who worked against cheaters were let go. So it is conceivable that Bungie currently has little coverage against cheaters and that they can run free in PvP before they are even discovered and punished.
How have you experienced the current situation of PvP in Destiny 2? Do you find it unplayable or do the streamers exaggerate? Let us know in the comments!
