An exotic has guaranteed Iron Banner victories in Destiny 2 in seconds. Bungie intervened but had to change the whole mode.
What were the problems? The exotic helmet “Khepri’s Horn” had a bug in the Iron Banner of Destiny 2. Players who had equipped the item could win a match in the PvP mode “Control” in just a few seconds.
For “Khepri’s Horn” to lead to a quick victory, a Titan from the own team had to have equipped the exotic and run to a neutral, unclaimed zone at the start of the match.
In this neutral zone, the Titan then set up his barrier, which immediately gave the executing team 70 capture points.
The bug was active for several hours and could decide a match in under 10 seconds. You can see what it looked like in the following clip on Twitter:
Bungie changes the mode because the first fix didn’t work
What has Bungie done about the bug? The good news first: Bungie has already reacted, and you don’t have to fear losing an Iron Banner match due to the bug soon.
The developers have disabled “Khepri’s Horn,” so players can no longer equip the exotic helmet. Curiously, this didn’t help much, reports Forbes. Players who had already equipped the item could still use it.
Bungie had to react again and changed the Iron Banner mode from “Control” to “Outbreak” so that players could no longer exploit the bug for quick victories.
Unlike in the “Control” mode, in “Outbreak” it’s not about capturing zones, making it impossible to exploit the bug. Outbreak is a modified version of the team deathmatch mode “Conflict”.
While Bungie has again disabled an exotic item with “Khepri’s Horn,” an old exotic is coming into a new form with Season 21.
The hand cannon “Service Revolver” has received eight direct and indirect buffs and can now deal substantial damage in the right combination.
