Yesterday, the Festival of the Lost 2021 started in Destiny 2. There are many similarities to last year, but also some refined changes. MeinMMO tells you where to find the Haunted Sectors and how to quickly get candies.
Destiny 2 has refreshed its somewhat dusty Halloween Event 2021. The Festival of the Lost 2021 has not only received a new event location with the Haunted Sectors, but also a new weapon and dino armor. What many players particularly liked is the connection with the seasonal story.
The seasonal story continues with the Halloween Event 2021:
- Savathun has revealed Crow’s true identity, prompting him to flee to Venus.
- He has left his Ghost Glint alone and unaware. Glint is very worried.
- As a distraction, he has started a small research project. He is searching for headless ones with Eva Levante.
- The quest line for this year’s event is called “But not forgotten”.
How does the Festival of the Lost 2021 work?
To participate in the Festival of the Lost, you first need to visit Eva Levante, our favorite space grandma, in the Tower. She will be your contact person during the event and will also offer you the event masks, various rewards, and the daily changing bounty quests.
As always, you can only participate and collect candies if you wear one of the spooky masks. You will automatically receive the mask from Eva, along with a small quest line, as Bungie announced:
An Exo and a Vex Ghost have merged into something… New, a Guardian on Nessus is being hunted because someone has their eye on their Ghost, and headless beings are lurking through the dark ravines of the Moon.
Bungie teases for the Halloween Event 2021
This is how long the event is active: From October 12 to November 2, 2021, you can participate in the event in Destiny 2 and receive various rewards and triumphs.
Here you can find the new Haunted Sectors
To access the Haunted Sectors, you first need to complete the first quest step in “But not forgotten”.
Then, you start any playlist activity. We recommend Gambit, as there are double Ruinous rank points in Destiny 2 this week. A heroic public event is also sufficient.
Once you have done that, you must return to Eva Levante. Talk to her and from then on the “Haunted Sectors Playlist” will be available. You can select it directly from the map in the Tower. There are a total of three different sectors in rotation. The playlist also grants pinnacle gear once you have defeated 30 headless ones.
What to expect in the Haunted Sectors: In the Haunted Sectors, you will face the “Headless Ones.” They lurk through the dark ravines of the Moon. Each of the Haunted Sectors features spooky decorations and a challenging event with a time limit.
This is how you play the event in the Haunted Sectors:
- Put on your “Festival of the Lost” mask, or you won’t get any candies.
- The Haunted Sectors have a matchmaking system (1-3 players).
- Fight your way through the sector until you reach the area with the summoning rituals.
- The ritual sites activate every few seconds (A, B, C, and D).
- Capture the ritual site to summon the Headless One, a miniboss.
- For each Headless miniboss you defeat, a Spectral Page also transforms into a Manifested Page.
- At the end of the event, a loot chest awaits you.
If you visit the Haunted Sectors, Crow’s Ghost Glint will speak to you over the radio. This shows again that Bungie is indeed placing increasing importance on meaningfully connecting the story of Destiny 2 with all activities, including events. We have already dealt with Bungie’s exact plans in this article:
Spectral Pages, Manifested Pages, and Lore Collecting
Back in the Tower, you can insert your Manifested Pages into the “Book of the Forgotten.” The book will gradually reveal a captivating story.
- You receive Spectral Pages by completing various activities while wearing the “Festival of the Lost” mask.
- There are a total of 27 Manifested Pages, each representing 1 lore entry for the “Stories of the Forgotten.”
- The cost of acquiring a lore entry increases over time (1-9 Manifested Pages).
- It is possible that we will learn more about the seasonal story in these little narratives.
Note: The message “All Spectral Pages manifested” will appear on your HUD once all of your acquired Spectral Pages have been transformed into Manifested Pages. To continue transforming new pages, you must first collect more Spectral Pages.
For collecting, you will receive triumph rewards:
- Glimmer of Hope Triumph (Half of all pages revealed)
Rewards you with an event badge. - Victory Shine Triumph (All pages revealed)
Rewards you with the shader “Headless Dye.”
The more pages and thus entries you unlock in the lore, the higher your chances of obtaining weapon rewards from the chest of Haunted Sectors. This includes the drop chance for all three event weapons.
How to quickly earn many candies
Suitable for farming candies are playlist activities like Vanguard Strikes, Gambit, or Crucible. Basically, the more enemies you kill, the more candies you get.
Here you can get particularly many candies: However, public events where many enemies spawn have proven to be particularly effective. They are perfect for stuffing your pockets with candies.
- Moon, Harbor of Sorrow: The event there is considered Escalation Protocol 2.0. Over several waves, enemies continuously spawn and drop large amounts of candies.
- Dreaming City, Shore: Play the public event there heroically.
So you don’t have to pick up all the candies: If you can’t manage to pick up all the candies – no worries. The candy-crazed Sweeter-Bot from Destiny 2 will take care of that for you. He will send you all uncollected candies to Kadis’ post office in the Tower, where you just need to pick them up.
Earn yourself daily additional sweets: During the event, there are also candies on the two trees in the Tower for you. The trees have different levels that you can climb and jump on. The higher you go, the more candies will pop out for you. The candies can be picked up again after each weekly reset until the event ends on November 2.
These weapons can be earned during the event
Players may remember the Pulse Rifle “Tannengrün”? Bungie has revamped this weapon for the event and given it a nice dino look. Fitting with the new event armors.
However, the event weapon “Primordial Green” is no longer a Kinetic weapon but a Solar Pulse Rifle. You can only obtain it during the annual Halloween Event 2021 in this new version.
- During the quest, you will receive “Primordial Green” from Eva Levante as a reward.
- All weapons can also drop randomly as rewards from the loot chests in the Haunted Sectors.
(The drop chance here is rather mediocre than good.) - You will also receive all weapons randomly from the surprise packages that you can buy from Eva Levante.
But the Auto Rifles “Chilling Tale” and “Braytech Werewolf” from past Halloween events are still in the event loot pool. If you are missing a good roll here, you can also hunt these.
The event armors and where to get them
The festival armors in dino style you chose are available as universal ornaments for the Festival of the Lost 2021 in the Eververse.
- The Hunter is the dashing Robo-Velociraptor, nimble, agile, and fierce.
- The Warlock is a Triceratops, taking its enemies by the horns.
- The Titan gets the dangerous T-Rex. Any similarities with the Titan’s close-range melee attacks and T-Rex arms are purely coincidental.
The cost of the armor: Each set costs either 6,000 Glimmer or 1,500 Silver.
Cool event cosmetics can also be obtained
In addition to the spooky event masks, with which you can walk around as a chicken or with a giant pumpkin head, there are also new and old spooky emotes, exotic ships, and shaders this year. With these, you can complete your spooky collection or scare other Guardians in the Tower.
What players particularly love right now: The “Honk Moon” mask is currently very popular in the community. But the spider Sparrow “Spike-Share” is also very well received by players. It is the first Sparrow that is not for arachnophobes, as it has eight legs and is hairy.
What do I do with the Ascendant Lens?
Exactly one year ago, during the Festival of the Lost 2020, Bungie sent players on a small mini-quest. As a reward, players received a mysterious Ascendant Lens from Spider. No one knew exactly what it was for – but those who have kept it until now will be rewarded.
This is how to get the reward for your Ascendant Lens:
- Select the H.E.L.M. and go to the Awoken Wing.
- Speak to Queen Mara there.
- She will exchange your Ascendant Lens for an epic surprise bag from the event.
- Inside are upgrade prisms, three Pulse Rifles “Primordial Green,” and a few Spectral Pages.
Have you already sniffed around in the event? Feel free to give it a try and let us know how you liked the Haunted Sectors and the connection to the seasonal story. Surely no one will chop off your head. – Or will they? Jokes aside – the worst that can happen is that you return to the Tower with a bunch of new cosmetics on an Exotic Sparrow.
