In Destiny 2, the quest for the exotic rocket launcher Truth is now live. We explain what you need to do at each step of the quest, such as the Ascendant Challenge, “A Card Divided” or “Corsair Out of Action” to obtain the Truth.
This weapon is about: In Season 7, the Season of Opulence, Destiny 2 gets some new exotics. One of them is the exotic rocket launcher “The Truth”, in English Truth.
This weapon exotic is not really new. Many Destiny veterans will likely remember this weapon well. Because the Truth originally comes from Destiny 1.
What can the Truth do? Through the perk “Prototype Truth Seeker,” the rockets of the Truth gain a homing feature. Additionally, the rocket launcher targets enemies when the scope is used.
This is how the Truth quest works
This is the Truth quest: This rocket launcher is tied to a multi-part exotic quest that has been live since the Weekly Reset on June 11. However, you need the Annual Pass for this, because you can only get the quest through the Menagerie – the new 6-man activity of Season 7. Below you will find all the necessary quest steps.
Play the Menagerie
This is how you get the quest: To receive the exotic quest at all, you must play the Menagerie. Complete the match until the end and kill the final boss. Then, the exotic item “A Piece of Paper” drops, which starts the quest and the hunt for the Truth.
Visit Petra Venj
The piece of paper sends you to Petra Venj in the Dreaming City. She translates the fragment for you, and you receive your next task.
Complete Ascendant Challenge and loot the Ascendant Chest
The next quest step requires you to complete one of Petra’s weekly Ascendant Challenge bounties and loot an Ascendant Chest.
Grab a bounty and play the weekly Ascendant Challenge. This changes weekly. To find out which Ascendant Challenge is currently active, check our latest Weekly Reset article. In the first quest week, the 5th Ascendant Challenge is active.
We have linked all 6 challenges for you here:
- Ascendant Challenge 1
- Ascendant Challenge 2
- Ascendant Challenge 3
- Ascendant Challenge 4
- Ascendant Challenge 5
- Ascendant Challenge 6
This is absolutely necessary: For the Ascendant Challenge and for the further progress of the Truth quest, you need the so-called “Queen’s Leaf Tincture”. You can randomly find this item in various chests throughout the Dreaming City. You can also buy the Queen’s Leaf Tincture from a secret dealer.
If you complete the challenge and open the chest at the end, you’ll get the next quest step.
A Card Divided – Here’s how to find the card fragments
This is where the quest leads you: In this quest step, you need to decode 4 card fragments. These are all located at different places in the star system.
- In the Tangled Shore (best in the loot area of Saturn)
- In the area The Cistern on Nessus
- In the Dreaming City
- In a Nightfall Strike
This is how you can currently shortcut the quest: Due to a bug, it is currently possible to significantly shorten this quest step. If you have completed the Ascendant Challenge, you can simply pick up the remaining card fragments from Petra Venj. She has them in her inventory for you when you speak to her.
More on this can be found here: How easily you can shorten the huge Truth quest in Destiny 2
However, it is likely that it won’t be long before Bungie fixes this error. Currently, however, it is still possible.
Card Fragment from the Nightfall Strike: If you play the quest normally, you get a fragment by mastering a Nightfall. There’s not much more to it.
Card Fragment in the Tangled Shore: Go to the crashed Hive ship in the Loot area of Saturn. Go inside the ship, follow the corridors and kill the Ogre at the end. You will get another fragment from him.
Card Fragment on Nessus: Go to the marked area in the Cistern.
Once again, you need the tincture to see the islands that you need to hop up to open the chest with the next card fragment.
Card Fragment in the Dreaming City: Here again, you need the tincture to see the platforms that you must follow to a chest with the next fragment.
Keep in mind that the locations of the chests change weekly with the curse cycle. Therefore, we have linked video guides for all possible locations:
- Curse Week (1)
- Hive Week (2)
- Possessed Week (3)
Open one of the chests and you get another card fragment. The current curse week is always updated in our latest Weekly Reset article.
Challenges of the card fragments and Corsair Out of Action
Each of the four fragments brings certain tasks that need to be completed.
These are the tasks you need to complete:
- As an Ascendant (having taken the tincture), defeat 50 enemies on Nessus with a rocket launcher. Multi-kills contribute more to progress.
- Complete 3 Nightfall Strikes with a power penalty of 100. You can set the power penalty via the challenge card “Five of Swords” from Xur. Additionally, you need 60 final blows with the rocket launcher in the Nightfall.
- Corsair Out of Action: Find the badge of a fallen Corsair in the Dreaming City and bring it to any Corsair outpost to decode it. For the exact location, you need to read the item description and can use this map (with corresponding filter) as a guide
- Defeat 100 Hive enemies in the Tangled Shore. Stronger defeated enemies contribute more to progress.
Once you have mastered all 4 challenges of the card fragments, you can redeem them and move on to the next quest step.
Like Candy from a Child
This is the strike you must play: Now you need to complete the strike “Guardian of Nothing” in the Tangled Shore while being Ascendant – having taken the tincture. This way, you will find the last Ascendant Chest. It doesn’t have to be a Nightfall or Vanguard strike; you can start Guardian of Nothing normally through the planet map of the Tangled Shore.
These artifacts are important: Since you are completing the strike as Ascendant, you will find artifacts during the strike that you need to collect.
There are a total of 7 hidden in the strike, 5 of which you only need to activate the platforms at the end. Because after defeating the boss, you can reach a chest over these platforms that contains the Truth.
The positions of the 5 required artifacts (from 8:04), the platforms (10:00), as well as a complete quest guide for the Truth quest can be found in this video by Nexxoss Gaming:
