In Destiny 2 have the Guardians completed a community event planned for two weeks in a record time of 25 hours and have already collected all rewards for it. This was made possible by a known exploit. MeinMMO will tell you how this was possible.
Which event have players now cracked in record time? In the last two weeks of Season 18, all Guardians in Destiny 2 were supposed to help make the Eliksni Quarter a better, new home for the Fallen and their sweet babies through hard grinding and donations. Because they now live with humans on Earth in the Last City, but still without walls, shelter, and especially without warmth.
As a goal for the community event, to completely expand the locations in the Eliksni Quarter, Bungie set a total donation goal for all Guardians of a staggering 400,000,000 Captain’s Coins. In return for the individual community goals, players receive Eliksni Quarter gift boxes, which provide Deep Sight Resonance weapons, Eververse engrams, Glimmer Dust, and Glimmer.
It was planned that the Guardians would play various activities in Destiny 2 repeatedly to achieve all individual goals until December 6th, at the start of Season 19, and then gradually donate their Captain’s Coins earned there.
Definitely not something that can be done quickly. But because Destiny players have always been good at finding the path of least resistance, a well-known exploit has now been used to make the weeks of grinding unnecessary.
Maximum reward rank after just a few minutes: Thanks to the well-known exploit, the complete event grind of two weeks can now also be completed in just a few minutes, the rewards obtained, and the home of the Eliksni quickly improved.
So instead of being plagued by a bad conscience for not immediately grinding enthusiastically to earn a warm home for the many little Eliksni babies for winter, the community instead exploited the exploit.
This also distorted the statistics that players had created specifically for the two-week event and caused the progress curve to rise extremely steeply. At the time of this article, the amount of donated materials was already 877,430,918, thus surpassing the target of 400,000,000 by more than double.
Exploit generates donation material out of nowhere: Normally, each player would have to donate 2,400 Captain’s Coins to receive the rewards for this community event. However, it is also possible to donate materials, treasure coordinates, and map fragments instead of Captain’s Coins. And that is exactly what the Guardians have cleverly taken advantage of.
However, certain prerequisites must also be met for the exploit to work:
- Players must have unlocked the “Lost Treasure Map” from the “Old Hands” of the Star Map upgrades from Season 18 in the H.E.L.M.
- At least 9 map fragments are required in the inventory.
- It is also important to switch the Captain’s Atlas to the cheaper map before donating, as otherwise you won’t have enough treasure maps left for the refund.
Anyone who keeps all of this in mind can complete the entire donation marathon through the exploit with many clicks in just a few minutes.
Destiny-Bulletin shows on Twitter how easy it is to get donation materials out of nowhere and thus grab the rewards.
Are there penalties for using the exploit? Even though this is fundamentally an exploit for a good cause, it still circumvents the intended game mechanics. After all, you are obtaining materials out of nowhere and being rewarded for it.
So far, Bungie has not officially commented on the exploit or announced a patch for it. Should that change, we will inform you and update this article accordingly.
It should also be noted that some players have already exploited the gap, completed their donations, and collected the rewards. Therefore, it could prove to be very difficult to bring the results of the community event back to correct numbers. However, consequences cannot be ruled out.
So you can also finish quickly without a guilty conscience
What should probably be a good opportunity for players to “profitably” get rid of seasonal items during this community event, has unfortunately created room for a new bug in Destiny 2.
However, many do not know: You can theoretically finish just as quickly without having to resort to the donation exploit.
If you want to be fair but still want to finish quickly, we recommend the safe route. This involves donating your soon-to-be useless destination materials, such as Baryon stems or Helium filaments.
- Simply donate 2,400 destination materials at the donation chest and benefit from a 1:1 conversion into donated treasures.
- If you do not have enough destination materials, you can also shop for Legendary Shards from Master Rahool.
Destination materials will soon be obsolete anyway: To ensure more clarity, Destiny 2 will ban all known planetary destination materials from your inventory in Season 19. Especially since Guardians have amassed countless of them over the past seasons. They are now clogging up inventories, and new players have not coped well with this variety of “currencies” so far.
This is therefore the perfect opportunity to clean up the inventory before the start of Season 19 and also to receive something for it, apart from Glimmer. The only requirement for this donation method is that you have at least 2,400 destination materials or enough Legendary Shards.
