In Destiny 2, a new event called “Empyrean Foundation” has started. Read why the Guardians are putting on their giving pants and what the donations have revealed so far.
What’s happening in Destiny 2? Since the reset yesterday, Guardians can actively participate in the future of Destiny 2. As part of a community challenge, the activity “Empyrean Foundation” has gone live.
Over the next few weeks, Saint-14 is encouraging players to donate Polarized Fractaline. The goal is to collectively achieve 7 donation targets. We have summarized how the rebuilding event works here:
Here’s the current state of the challenge: Last night, players quickly shattered the first of 7 tiers with their willingness to donate. In the early hours of the morning, around 7:30 AM, Bungie officially announced: Tier 2 is completed.
The next donation target is 1,200,000 Fractaline. The third tier is the last concrete goal that Bungie outlined beforehand. The requirements for tiers 4-7 are currently unknown.
How much Fractaline do players still need to spend? It is impossible to say for sure how much more the Destiny players have to dig into their pockets. Although there are no official statements on this, some Guardians have made their own estimates.
If the required amount of Fractaline continues to increase in the manner of the first three tiers, we can expect these targets:
- Tier 4 – 1.9 billion Fractaline
- Tier 5 – 2.8 billion Fractaline
- Tier 6 – 3.9 billion Fractaline
- Tier 7 – 5.2 billion Fractaline
Some players theorize that Bungie is not revealing the final donation targets for good reason. This way, depending on need, the next tier can be adjusted. This would ensure that the Destiny developer keeps the event from ending too soon and that the community ultimately reaches the goal.
Donations out of altruism? No, there’s something in it for the Guardians
Why are the Guardians donating so abundantly? The main reason for their generous willingness to donate is likely the expected return of the Trials. This gives players a “carrot” to chase. Through their own efforts, they can make a larger impact.
Already at the first community event, Guardians demonstrated that they spare no effort for Destiny. For the first time for such an event, Guardians are now seeing in-game changes through their contributions. Thus, “Empyrean Foundation” distinguishes itself from the previous community task.
This PvP activity has been revealed: The eagle-eyed players noticed that something has changed in the selection screen of the Crucible. Currently, a new entry named “Empyrean Foundation” reveals itself at the top of the PvP menu.
The icon is shaped like a lighthouse and is described as a cooperative activity taking place on Mercury. Furthermore, it is said that we should help Saint-14 prepare the future. Around the beacon is a seven-part wreath that fills up according to the donation level.
Want to personally admire the lighthouse node? No problem, visit Osiris after your donation on Mercury. After a small speech from the Warlock, the icon will be displayed in the PvP menu at any time.
Donating brings even more: Each donation of 100 Fractaline at the Tower Obelisk grants you 25% progress for your time-lost bounties. This means that with every fourth donation, you will have completed all of these weapon bounties in your inventory.
Players report that they have acquired large quantities of:
- good rolls of the powerful weapons
- loads of XP
- and legendary shards when dismantling
provided a decent stock of Glimmer, Fractaline, and some time. You don’t even have to move from your spot for this. Everything can be conveniently done from the Tower Obelisk.
What do you think of the current community challenge? Are you donating diligently? Why not share the excitement for the upcoming return of the Trials, as we have examined here:
