Members of the Redeem Clan have accomplished another feat in Destiny 2. The raid team sent the raid boss Argos to the virtual beyond – without even opening his shield once!
The Redeem Clan is well known for its outstanding achievements in Destiny 2. Among other things, clan members have become the world’s first team to complete the Scourge of the Past raid, defeated the raid boss Val Ca’uor without weapons, or dismantled Emperor Calus with living bombs.
However, the top players are constantly seeking new challenges. In their latest challenge, they have once again delivered a masterful performance that, until recently, was thought impossible.
Argos defeated without Shield Break
It is indeed possible: The team around exceptional players Sweatcicle and Indica defeated Argos, the boss of the The Taken King raid without opening his shield even once. This meant they were limited to dealing damage to the boss only during the stun phase.
Until recently, at least one shield break was necessary to defeat Argos. With the masterpiece version of the Whisper Sniper, Redeem was able to completely forgo breaking the shield. However, even with the powerful Whisper, it was a close call.
The raid team chose the following setup:
- 4 Warlocks with Well of Radiance
- 1 Sunbreaker Titan with Hammer Strike
- 6x Whisper of the Worm in the masterpiece version (with Breathing Control)
- 6x Raid chest armor for an additional 15% power weapon damage after major kills
The key pillars of the strategy: First, the team placed three Vex skulls on both the Void and Solar sides. This caused the enemies and Minotaur majors to spawn safely away from the group, which positioned itself on the Arc side.
As soon as the message “Void values increasing” appears on the screen, all team members have taken out the Minotaurs to secure the 15% extra damage for 30 seconds.
Then, five players positioned themselves in the Well of Radiance, which was placed gradually and was thus continuously available. They then dealt damage to the boss. It was important that the perk Breathing Control was activated.
The Titan meanwhile focused on applying Hammer Strike to Argos 2 times per round and also stunning him.
