A Guardian has encountered a strange bug in Destiny 2 . Apparently, it is understood as a hint that the Trials – a popular PvP activity – are returning to Destiny 2. This could happen in March 2020.
What did the Guardian see? The Guardian “Grym_Games” returned to orbit after a PvP match. There, due to a bug, the message “Placeholder Type – BETA” appeared to him.
This message had 7 boxes at the top and 3 boxes at the bottom as “Game History”.
This is understood as a sign that Bungie is preparing to bring the “Trials” back to Destiny 2 in some form. The code must already be in the game and is showing up here due to some glitch.
What else supports this? In addition to this plaque, there are two major hints:
- One is a statement from Bungie itself – after Shadowkeep, the “PvP should be renewed”. Therefore, some hope that Season 10 of Destiny 2, starting in March 2020, will become “the PvP season” and bring back the Trials.
- Additionally, there was recently a meeting at the headquarters of Destiny 2 with 6 content creators, of which 3 were known as “Trials” experts. They expressed excitement about what they saw during the meeting but were not allowed to talk about it: RealKrafty, DrLupo, and Banned_Wipe.
Here is the background: The weekly PvP event was a staple of Destiny 1 and Destiny 2, just like the Weekly Reset on Tuesday or the visit from Xur on Friday.
It was an opportunity for PvP teams to come together once a week and compete against other teams.
For streamers, it was a chance to make a name for themselves by inviting viewers into their team and playing with them.
In Destiny 2, however, the mode did not work as well and Bungie decided to pause and revise it. They probably also wanted to establish the mode “Gambit” as “a new, strong mode” – but that didn’t work out.
For more than a year, PvP fans have been waiting for Bungie to bring back the “Trials” and are looking for hints to confirm their hope.
Originally, the hope had already ignited for Season 9, because Osiris and Mercury were once again in the focus of Destiny 2. But these hopes were dashed. Now, it is a matter of waiting for Season 10.
