The community of Destiny 2 is currently amused by the story of a returnee. He was so excited about a cosmetic that he made what is probably the most pointless purchase of his virtual Guardian life without thinking twice. What happened there?
This is what the community is laughing about: Even though the release of Shadowkeep is slowly approaching and more and more information about the big autumn expansion is flowing in, there are completely different topics that are attracting the Guardians’ interest.
A player recently shared a story that many Guardians found amusing. It revolves around a player in Destiny 2 who made a foolish move right after a long break.
What exactly happened? “If you ever regret a purchase in the Eververse, just remember what my silly friend did.” With these encouraging words, the story begins.
The Redditor zerik100 reports about his friend, who after a longer absence recently got Forsaken and returned to Destiny 2.
The friend was very hyped about the many and (for him) new content and, for whatever reason, first headed to the Eververse – the in-game shop of Destiny 2. There he purchased all 3 sets of “Armor Glows” for the event armor of the Solstice of Heroes with Silver (the real-money currency). They would look really cool, according to the friend.
Yesterday (August 28), zerik100 was asked by his friend how he could activate this effect on his armor. Zerik asked if he had grinded for any Solstice armor at all. The only response was “No, why?”
Then zerik explained to his friend that he can only apply these glow effects to the Solstice armor – and not to any piece of armor.
However, it seems that zerik’s buddy at least had a bit of luck in misfortune. Because it looks like he can now proudly display his armor glow after what is probably the most pointless purchase of his Guardian career – and indeed with the worst (green) version of the Solstice armor. He probably managed to acquire it before the end of the summer event on August 27. Otherwise, the roughly 24€ would have been completely wasted.
This is how fans are reacting: Fans are visibly amused by the blind purchasing frenzy of the returnee. The thread is currently one of the most popular posts on the Destiny subreddit and has received almost 8,000 upvotes in less than 24 hours.
Some Guardians find this “foolishness” truly remarkable, as the game often points out how exactly these glow effects can be used.
Other users thank the “legend” for partially financing the game for them or share similar experiences and their own funny stories.
Conversely, others are not surprised at all that such blunders happen regularly when you are almost daily asked by teammates how to complete certain quests or bounties – even though everything is clearly stated in the description. Many probably prefer convenience and have therefore even forgotten how to read.
