In Destiny 2 have 50 yellow security drones puzzled many for a long time, as no one knew what they were for. Meanwhile, the secret has been solved and revealed a wonderful, unique surprise that one can even pet, instead of a new weapon for the Guardians. MeinMMO tells you how to get it and why you should hurry to find it.
On December 20, Destiny 2 revealed to its Guardians in the seasonal story quest the Exo mission “Operation: Seraph’s Shield”. At first, it was thought that it was solely for hunting the components of the new weapon “Revision Zero” and the IKELOS protocol. But there was more.
Within the mission, there was also a locked security door with an electronic lock to discover. It was extremely well secured by a total of 50 security drones, which immediately piqued the curiosity of the Guardians. What could be worth such a secure protection?

Here’s how to solve the mystery of the security door: The solution to the riddle lies in the ominous yellow objects that appeared in season 19 of the game. At the beginning of the Season of the Seraphs, the Guardians were still puzzling over the suddenly appeared and especially numerous objects that looked like yellow security drones. Even then, it was suspected that it must have something to do with the new weapon “Revision Zero”.
Week Four in the seasonal quest then brought the solution to the riddle: Find all 50 security drones, shoot them down with “Revision Zero” and thus uncover the secret of a security door in the exotic mission “Operation: Seraph’s Shield”.
However, the reward was partly different than expected and a wonderful surprise.

All hidden drone locations: Once it was clear that the drones could be shot down with the new Exotic “Revision Zero”, the task became solvable. First, find all drones spread across the entire system and shoot them down.
- 10 are located on Europa
- 10 are hidden on the Moon
- 6 can be found in the three areas of the seasonal activity “Heist Battlegrounds”.
- 12 are also hidden directly in the Exo mission “Operation: Seraph’s Shield”.
However, note: Specifically, the security drones in the mission “Operation: Seraph’s Shield” require unlocking the seasonal “Security Clearance” upgrade from the Exo frame in the H.E.L.M. operational center. This upgrade is currently not available, as you need a certain progress in the Season 19 story mission for it. However, some Guardians have once again found a way to the still blocked drones using glitches and thus prematurely unlocked the reward.
If you don’t want to bother finding all the drones yourself or are still missing some, this video from Andy Edition can assist you in the search:
With each shot, you deactivate one more lock on the security door until all buttons next to the door light up and the door is unlocked.
Once you’ve done that, all locks on the security door are deactivated. However, you still cannot enter unharmed. As soon as the door is open, you will encounter a series of lasers, another locked door, and a jumping sequence. If you make a mistake, you will either be sliced or Destiny 2 will teleport you coldly back to the beginning.
In the end, a giant Hive Knight awaits you. But be careful: if you take the red teleporter to the final boss, you’ve already gone too far.
The overcoming of the obstacles is worth it:
- As soon as you successfully destroy all security drones, there is a triumph that lets Destiny 2 drop the new exotic Sparrow “Archangel’s Conversion”.
- Behind the security door, a sweet Exo puppy awaits you, who has been alone in the dark for far too long and desperately needs attention. You just have to execute the “Good Boy Protocol” once you get there.
- After you’ve petted the dog and returned to orbit, you also unlock a small robo plush dog in the Bungie Store accordingly.
From then on, the little cybernetic friend belongs to you. He will follow you into the H.E.L.M. and will be happy over every visit and every pet. You can also have other Guardians show how well you take care of him on your badge.
Can the robot dog stay? Animal friends have always been well received in Destiny 2. Even if it was just an emote back then.
No wonder that the Guardians quickly fell in love with the new Exo puppy in the Clovis-Bray style and do not want to give him up. However, it is still unclear whether this sweet pet will remain permanently or must return to the content shelter.

As the robot dog is also a seasonal content, he will disappear from the game at the end of the last season in the “The Witch Queen” DLC. Just like all 3 seasonal contents before. Since Lightfall is released on February 28, 2023, this could also mean saying goodbye to the Exo puppy. If you want to have and pet the dog, you must make the effort until the end of Season 19.
However, some Guardians hope that Bungie will not remove the dog and also the very well-made Exo mission “Operation: Seraph’s Shield”. Currently, there is no statement from the developer regarding this. Should anything change, we will update this article for you.
What do you think of your new best friend? Was he a successful change from the normal weapon hunt? Or is this not something you wish for in a loot shooter? Feel free to share your opinion about the mission “Operation: Seraph’s Shield” as a whole. How did you find it?
It was also surprising that Destiny 2, despite all the adversities and complaints from its players throughout 2022, remained one of the top games on Steam:
Steam shows 12 most played games of 2022 – Destiny 2, Lost Ark are included and a big surprise
