Fans of Destiny 2 will soon be able to not only shoot but also indulge. Because Bungie has surprisingly announced a Destiny cookbook. We wonder: does a collection of recipes fit with the looter shooter?
About this book: In the weekly community blog “This Week at Bungie”, the studio announced two books. The bookworms among us Guardians will soon be able to get the third volume of the Grimore Anthology and dive deeper into the backstory of the Destiny universe.
However, the second announced book might be even more surprising. It is a real cookbook. The title of the recipe collection is “Destiny – The Official Cookbook“.
What do we currently know about the official cookbook? We don’t know much yet about the content of the book. The work will be narrated from the perspective of Eva Levante. After the events of the Red War, she traveled the world of Destiny 2 and collected various recipes.
Bungie itself states on its own store page that the official cookbook is filled with recipes inspired by the characters and locations of Destiny’s rich universe.

Culinary and Destiny – does it fit together? When thinking of the Destiny universe, many ideas come to mind. I associate the shooter with cool action, heavy weapons, space magic, outstanding gameplay, or countless hours of co-op fun. But do I also think of cooking or culinary delights? Not really.
Alright, before you hit me with the comments – Destiny does have some points of contact with food and its preparation.
Every year, ‘culinary delights’ can be obtained from Eris Morn. However, this was more of a gag from Bungie. Instead of the typical Halloween sweets, there were celery or raisins from the chronically grumpy Eris for the Guardians.
During the Christmas break event, players could also bake cookies themselves.
Fan favorite Cayde-6 is known for loving ‘spicy ramen’ above all. As a memento of the deceased Hunter Vanguard leader, many players still carry a voucher for the soup shop in their inventory.
What recipes await the hungry Guardians or whether the official cookbook reveals delicious lore secrets is currently unknown.
Cookbooks for other games: Destiny is by far not the first video game franchise to receive an official cookbook. Among the numerous representatives are recipe collections for World of Warcraft, The Elder Scrolls, or Fallout – with the latter once again being led by Victoria Rosenthal.
Considering the mentioned game series, a thematic culinary reading makes perfect sense. Because eating or preparing food is a significant part of the gameplay.
In the Fallout games, it is essential to keep yourself afloat with food and drinks (Nuka Cola). In role-playing games, dishes or potions, for example, grant strengthening buffs. Collecting ingredients is just as much a part of the game as forging weapons and armor.
How it exactly fits into Destiny 2 – that remains an exciting question.
