In Destiny 2, you should quickly obtain the exotic weapon “Grasp of Salvation”. Because it is a requirement for many tasks that await you on Europa in Beyond Light.
This is the exotic in question: The exotic grenade launcher Grasp of Salvation (eng. Grasp of Salvation) has been newly introduced in Destiny 2: Beyond Light. It is a weapon with the new Stasis element and special attributes.
MeinMMO provides you with a detailed guide on how to unlock Grasp of Salvation and what you need to consider for the associated quest “The Stasis Prototype”. Because the new exotic is an important part of your arsenal.
Here’s why the weapon is so important: Once you have completed the story of Beyond Light, the journey is far from over. Now you need to improve your new Stasis abilities and clear the DLC location Europa. For both, you need the exotic Grasp of Salvation.
So if you are looking for the Entropic Shards on Europa and want to master the quest “Aspect of Control” at the Exo Stranger, you’ll need the new Stasis launcher.
Master the quest “The Stasis Prototype” in Destiny 2 Beyond Light
Are there any special requirements? Yes, to obtain the new exotic and to find the quest “The Stasis Protocol”, you must first complete the story of Beyond Light. This can only be done by owners of the new expansion.
So play through the campaign on Europa until you need to visit Zavala in the Tower. Once you fly into orbit, the post-story begins and various NPCs will present themselves wanting something from you.
This is how you start the quest: Visit the Drifter in the Tower. You’ll find him in the “Gambling” area which even has its own landing zone.
Important Tip: Accept the quest “Recapture Europa” from Variks in parallel because
- the two tasks overlap
- this will save you a lot of time
Simply complete the smaller tasks from Variks while you are in Europa and working on your exotic Stasis launcher. They are all marked by quest markers or consist of simple collection and kill tasks.
Step 1: Collect kills on Europa for the Grasp of Salvation
The Drifter will send you back to Europa. Here you need to take out certain enemies:
- Defeat 10 Fallen Captains on Europa – these are the teleporting Fallen with a shield
- Defeat 10 Servitors on Europa – these are the large floating orb enemies that give shields to others
Step 2: Complete “Recapture Europa”,”The Dark Priestess,” and “Fall of the Empire”
As announced, the tasks of Variks and the Drifter now overlap. To continue your Exo quest, you must first assist in the Recapture of Europa. Complete the three above-mentioned missions.
Then your quest “Stasis Prototype” will finally proceed. Here you need to defeat Stasis-infected enemies. This means for you:
- Defeat enemies directly with Stasis or freeze them and finish them off
- Tip: The task does not have to be completed on Europa. For quick progress, visit the Blind Well in the Dreaming City or participate in public events – take the flag there at the start to fill all abilities
Step 3: Obtain Skiff Codes
Now you need to locate a specific Lost Sector on Europa.
- Enter the Lost Sector “Hidden Void” in the northern area “Asterion Abyss” of Europa – the entrance is underground
- The area hosts some high-level enemies, so be careful.
- Defeat the sector boss normally and open the loot chest – then the force field behind it opens and you will find a captive NPC
- The NPC “Spider’s Ally” will then hand you the needed Skiff Codes
Step 5 – Complete the mission “Stasis Theft” on Europa
Now visit the Drifter in the Tower. He has the mission “Stasis Theft” for you. Don’t worry, you will master the quest soon.
- At Variks on Europa in the area “Charon’s Crossing,” you will find the mission – it is marked with a quest marker
- You will find yourself in a Fallen stronghold – so do what Guardians do and smash everything
- Still in the mission, you will receive your new exotic “Grasp of Salvation”
- Equip the new power weapon – there’s enough ammo supply in the area to win the final battle
Visit the Drifter one last time in the Tower to fully complete the quest and earn a triumph along with your new exotic.
Here’s a video from Venero TV showing the quest in action:
Grasp of Salvation – What can the Stasis Exotic do?
The reward for your efforts: “Grasp of Salvation” is a heavy grenade launcher and therefore requires power ammo. The exotic fires at a rate of 120, slower than its exotic cousin Anarchy, but has a better magazine size of 8.
What’s special about Grasp of Salvation is that it possesses the new Stasis element. Additionally, it has the following two exotic perks:
- Cryo Cannon: The projectiles of these weapons create Stasis crystals and freeze nearby targets. You can hold down the trigger to charge the weapon
- Flash Freeze: Charging this weapon increases the freeze radius and the number of Stasis crystals created.
You do not fire regular explosives, but have the new Stasis super equipped in the power weapon slot. You also need the weapon to destroy some quest items on Europa.
