The Masterwork version of the exotic sword Worldline Zero presented a great puzzle for Guardians in Destiny 2. For a long time, it wasn’t clear how to obtain the corresponding catalyst. Even regarding how to level it, fans have so far only shrugged their shoulders. Now, we are one step further. We have the details.
Another secret has been unraveled in Destiny 2 – at least partially: This time it revolves around the Masterwork version of the exotic sword Worldline Zero.
The community has not only figured out how to obtain the required catalyst but also presumably how to upgrade the exotic sword to a Masterwork. This has previously posed what seemed to be an unsolvable riddle for fans.
There is a lot to be done: Now that the question around the first step for the Masterwork upgrade has been answered, it is becoming clear: The Masterwork of Worldline Zero is associated with a lot of work and especially time. It is likely the most challenging known Masterwork task to date. The first Guardians will probably receive the final version in about 4 weeks.
How to make Worldline Zero a Masterwork
What is Worldline Zero? It is the first exotic sword in Destiny 2. It was introduced in the Warmind expansion.

What makes Worldline Zero special? The unique perk of the sword is called Tesseract, which allows you to perform a Tesseract move after a short sprint at the push of a button. You will teleport to your opponent to land a devastating strike.
What can the sword do in the Masterwork version? Worldline Zero will then gain another perk – “Another Dimension”. This perk reduces the activation time for Tesseract.
How do you obtain the catalyst for the Masterwork? The corresponding catalyst is obtained as a random drop from any enemies that you defeat with a sword. You don’t necessarily need to equip Worldline Zero for this. Any legendary sword will work just as well. By the way, you don’t even need Power ammo when focusing on weak enemies.
How to unlock the Masterwork upgrade? The weapon description was not particularly helpful in the search for the answer. While other weapons usually have at least vague hints, Guardians found only three question marks with Worldline Zero.
By chance, however, it has been discovered: To make the first progress in unlocking the Masterwork upgrade, you need to hit the final boss after the 7th wave of the Escalation Protocol with a heavy attack from Worldline Zero, once his shield is down. This will progress you by 20% in this task.
At the same time, you will receive the item “Worldline Ideasthesia: Anarkhiia”. This appears to be the first of 5 items from the Worldline Ideasthesia series discovered in the Destiny 2 database.
What’s next? The community is now sure that further progress is also tied to the Escalation Protocol. This PvE event has 5 different bosses that rotate weekly. This matches the 5 Worldline Ideasthesia items.
If the existing system is maintained, you will receive the remaining 4 items and thus also each 20% of the progress from the remaining 4 end bosses of the Escalation Protocol in this way. Whether there will be another step afterwards is still unclear. The first players would therefore be able to upgrade Worldline Zero to a Masterwork in about 4 weeks.
Why is it so challenging? Even for high-level groups, the Escalation Protocol is still not a task that can be solved casually. This is because you are highly dependent on the skill and level of your fellow players. Established groups have a clear advantage – especially if you can bring in up to 8 friends with a small trick.
Many mixed squads already give up early on their way to the 7th wave or fail due to a lack of players. For solo players, this task has not even been remotely manageable so far.
