On the previous May 18, the live event for Destiny 2 took place, where representatives of the press were also invited on-site and even had the opportunity to play the online player hands-on themselves. What do the testers say in their first impressions of Destiny 2?
In the meantime, there are some impressions from those who took the opportunity to play. Overall, the mood regarding Destiny 2 is very positive. Especially the story mission “Homecoming” left a good impression. It feels denser in terms of story and presentation than the story missions in the first part. A more exciting atmosphere emerged.
Some things feel routine
Although the played strike and PvP were also impressive, the wow effect was missing here because these gameplay elements feel familiar from the predecessor. In terms of raids, nothing was playable yet, but the question arose as to whether there would be only one, as there was always talk of “the” raid.
According to Bungie, only about half of the players participated in the raids in Destiny 1 anyway. They hope to encourage more players to participate in the raid in Destiny 2 through the new “guide games.” It is quite conceivable that they will start with only one raid.
The new weapons and attacks were well received by the event participants, as they offer varied gameplay and the super attacks bring additional options that make the fights even more dynamic. However, some elements were not yet integrated. For example, players could not inspect the weapons, and only the inventory was accessible. All other information about the character was not yet included in the game.
Graphically just a Destiny 1.5
Graphically, the game was able to generate enthusiasm, but compared to its predecessor, the visual innovations are only on a smaller scale. Graphically, many see Destiny 2 more as a Destiny 1.5, which, however, does not detract from the fun, as the visuals are still excellent and the overall style creates a fantastic atmosphere.
Interestingly, for some, Destiny 2 did not feel like a real sequel but rather like a kind of reboot. This was because everything is essentially reset to zero. The equipment, the characters, the balancing … Essentially, Destiny 2 clears the slate and offers a sort of fresh start, which should provide a good entry point for PC players who could not experience the first part.
Details will significantly impact the fun
Overall, the mood was extremely positive, and those who were able to play the game on-site agree that Destiny 2 will be a worthy successor to an already fantastic game.
