In Destiny 2 rocket launchers have had long reload times since Shadowkeep. We have build ideas for you that allow you to fire almost nonstop.
Why can’t you fire continuously anymore? For a long time, rocket launchers were considered one of the strongest power weapons in Destiny 2. Even raid bosses would melt under the bombardment.
One of the few drawbacks of rocket launchers is the very small magazine (often only 1 shot) and a very slow reload time. With Shadowkeep, the automatic reloading was also disabled. Thanks to auto-reload mechanics, this weakness could previously be easily overcome, but since Shadowkeep, that has been over. Until now.

What can this new build do? The showcased setup allows you to fire rockets in quick succession, without long reload times. You are effectively countering the changes that have been introduced in Destiny 2 since Shadowkeep.
What you need for the build
What perks do I need? A central role in the showcased setup plays the perk ‘Demolisher’ (eng. Demolitionist). Thanks to this ability, your weapon will reload from reserves every time you throw a grenade. Additionally, you gain energy for your grenades from kills with the Demolisher weapon.
Very few rocket launchers in Destiny 2 have the ‘Demolisher’ ability. One of the rare weapons with this perk is ‘Ketzer‘. The rocket launcher can reliably be obtained through the moon activity ‘Altars of Sorrow’ .
This exotic armor is required: The continuous fire can be achieved with various exotic armors. The gameplay changes somewhat depending on which exotic armor is worn. You have these three alternatives:
- Sonnenarmschienen (eng. Sunbracers)
- Sternfeuerprotokoll (eng. Starfire Protocol)
- Heilrüstung (eng. Armamentarium)
Continuous fire without reloading
How to play the build with Sunbracers: Warlocks use the exotic gloves ‘Sonnenarmschienen’. These empower you to continuously throw solar grenades for some time after a solar melee kill.
Each time you throw a grenade, your rocket launcher reloads instantly thanks to ‘Demolisher’. The sequence looks like this:
- Solar melee kill,
- fire rocket,
- throw grenade,
- fire another rocket
- and throw another grenade.
In just a few seconds, you will have emptied your entire rocket reserves. The solar grenades themselves deal massive damage (60,000) and your DPS (damage per second) with this combo is about 46,700.
Keep in mind that the dot (damage over time) from solar grenades cannot be stacked. Multiple grenades do not deal more damage to a target than a single one. Only impact damage counts per grenade (5,500).
How to play the build with Starfire Protocol: Warlocks alternatively use the exotic chest armor ‘Sternfeuerprotokoll’. With the robe, you have two fusion grenades. Your fusion grenades recharge very quickly in a well or damage rift when you deal weapon damage.
In practice, it looks like this:
- You place a rift,
- shoot the rocket launcher,
- throw a fusion grenade
- and the next rocket comes.
Thanks to the constant weapon damage, you should have a new fusion grenade after each rocket shot. This way, you will quickly burn through the rocket launcher ammunition.
The combination of fusion grenade plus rocket launcher deals about 48,500 DPS. A fusion grenade causes approximately 20,000 damage. Unlike the previous build, no melee kill or similar is required.
How to play the build with Armamentarium: Titans can also benefit from rocket launchers with ‘Demolisher’. With ‘Heilrüstung’, you get two grenades. It doesn’t matter which subclass or grenade you choose.
However, we recommend a Void tree with a magnetic grenade. The Void grenade currently benefits from the seasonal artifact. With the mod ‘Constraining Darkness’, enemies receive a 30% damage bonus after a grenade hit.
You fire a rocket, throw a grenade, and repeat. Unlike the Warlock, you can only fire three rockets. The Titan has no way to regenerate grenade energy with this combination.
Thanks to the debuff, you can achieve impressive 70,600 DPS with this method. Since you cannot fire through the entire rocket reserves, this approach is recommended for burst damage (big damage in a short moment).
