With the start of the new season in Destiny 2, Guardians discovered a way to charge their powerful super in no time. Bungie responded quickly and disabled the option.
What’s going on in Destiny 2? Yesterday, the Season of Dawn went live and gave Guardians new reasons to play. However, with a combination, the players might have taken it a bit too far.
With the Dynamo Mod, the super could essentially be charged and used in seconds. But the madness was short-lived; Bungie reacted surprisingly quickly.
The effect of the mod was server-side disabled, and your super firework must now charge normally. Until an announced hotfix, the Dynamo Mod will have no effect.
This is how the crazy combination worked: Guardians discovered that the mod ‘Dynamo‘ does not function as intended. Normally, when using your class ability, you receive a portion of super energy. However, by stacking two of these mods, not just a small part but essentially the entire super bar was filled.
A void class item was needed, such as the Hunter’s cloak, a Titan Mark, or a Warlock Bond. Because only on class items with this element can the mod be placed at all.
What should the stacking of mods actually look like? According to the patch notes for the current season , stacking of mods is planned, but it shouldn’t be as strong as with the two Dynamo mods:
“Similar mods can now be stacked for an improved effect. However, stacking mods with similar effects leads to diminishing returns and thus grants less relative bonus than two different mods would.”
In the specific case of the Dynamo mod, the effect was strengthened instead of being reduced by double usage. When Bungie will release the announced hotfix is currently unknown.

It’s not going smoothly at the start of the season
Destiny 2 is struggling with more problems: We reported yesterday on some issues that are disrupting the season start. These include among others:
- The error code ‘Chicken’ might be terrorizing some players and requires a re-login
- The seal for the title “Savior” shows incorrect requirements-
- Some quest completions are not possible under all conditions.
- The seasonal triumphs “Challenges”, “Rituals”, and “Engagement” from the Season of Dawn do not work properly. They will be fixed in a later update.
In addition to the issues Bungie knew about in advance, a handful of unexpected errors have now surfaced. The community uncovered quite a few inconsistencies in the last hours:
- The escalation protocol does not drop loot as intended. Many players report that the chest is completely empty after level 7.
- The exotic Sleeper Simulant currently deals less damage than legendary linear fusion rifles.
- However, the damage from the exotic bow Wishender is significantly too high.
- The crafting of override frequency on Mars doesn’t seem to be working properly.
- The graphics settings on PC have changed for some players.
Via Twitter, the Destiny developer announced that we will have a server maintenance today (December 11) at 6 PM.
