It will soon become easier and cheaper for new players to fully dive into Destiny 2. Forsaken will include what many fans wanted at launch: the Year 1 DLCs
As Bungie announced in the current “This Week at Bungie” blog, starting on October 16, 2018, purchasing Destiny 2: Forsaken will also include both expansions of the base game – namely DLC I Curse of Osiris and DLC II Warmind.
Every owner of thus only needs the Forsaken upgrade to fully enjoy the game.
How fans wished Forsaken would launch
What is the problem? At the release of Forsaken, it was different. Anyone who only owned the base game had to purchase both Year 1 DLCs, as they are required to play the Forsaken expansion. However, the standard edition of Forsaken did not include these DLCs.

These were available either as a bundle in the expansion pass for Destiny 2 or in one of the special Forsaken complete packages – the Destiny 2: Forsaken Legendary or Complete Edition. Therefore, players had to dig deeper into their pockets if they wanted to jump into Forsaken while only owning the base game or just one of the Year 1 DLCs.
The same applied to the later promotion with PS Plus in September. The base version of Destiny 2 was free for all subscribers of Sony’s PS Plus in September. Even for these players, the standard Forsaken version was not enough.
They either had to purchase the Year 1 expansion pass along with the Forsaken expansion or resort to one of the more expensive complete packages, effectively bundling the otherwise free base game.
This is what many wished for at release: Criticism arose from fans as soon as Forsaken launched, stating that the Year 1 DLCs were not included in the base version of the expansion, yet were required.
Accusations surfaced that Bungie was trying to capitalize on Forsaken once again. Many who returned or were newcomers interested only in Forsaken had to purchase the Year 1 content as well. This option is what numerous players wished for at the launch of the autumn expansion, as also clearly seen in earlier discussions on MeinMMO.
Bungie tries to appease: The studio probably anticipates that this step could lead to discontent among fans. It’s clear that especially buyers of the Legendary or Complete Edition of Forsaken could now be frustrated. After all, they paid for content that will soon be free.
Therefore, every Guardian who played Forsaken before October 16, 2018, will receive the following item package:

The shader and the veteran emblem will be received by the Guardians at the beginning of December. The two exotic emotes will be available at an unknown time in the Eververse.
By the way: The Festival of the Lost in Destiny 2 will also start on October 16.
What do you think of this action? Logical step? Or do you feel cheated?
