Exactly one year had to wait Destiny 2 players, now they have returned with Forsaken: Random Rolls. Reason enough to take a look at the best auto rifles and perk combinations of the new expansion.
This also makes the tenth “Better Devils” interesting: Anyone who found a weapon in the first year of Destiny 2 could safely dismantle any further copies of it. Because the “roll” of the weapon, i.e. the sights and perks on it, was static and always the same.
With Forsaken, Bungie finally brought back variable rolls of different weapons. So each Better Devils you find can differ significantly from the one before. But which perks and attributes on your weapons are the best?
This question has also been posed by Redditor pandapaxxy, who has compiled a comprehensive compendium of the best weapons in Forsaken. At the start, we present the best auto rifles for PvE content and the Crucible, and give recommendations on which weapon attributes you should look out for.
The best weapons were selected as follows: Redditor pandapaxxy focused solely on the stats that are permanently installed on each weapon. These stats include stability, range, recoil direction, and aim assistance. Personal favorites may deviate from this list. However, this is not a problem; play with the weapons that suit you best.
Note: The lists include almost exclusively Year 2 weapons that were integrated into the game with Forsaken. Only a few representatives from Year 1 were carried over with random rolls.
There will also only be legendary weapons with random rolls in the summaries. Exotic weapons and guns that only come with fixed perks are not included here.
This does not mean that guns with fixed properties have to be bad. In particular, the weapons from the raid “Last Wish” are competitive in almost every respect and often come with perfect rolls.
The Auto Rifles – Solid in PvE and PvP
Auto rifles as a weapon for everyone: They are excellent for dealing with larger groups of enemies; you just have to pull the trigger and shoot wildly around you. If you want to laugh maliciously while doing so, feel free to do so!
Auto rifles come in various forms. There are rapid-firing representatives that deal moderate damage, as well as slower firing assault rifles that, per bullet, deal significantly more damage. In the list of the best auto rifles, you will find one representative per category so that your individual play style is taken into account.

The best perks for PvE content: The Outsider is one of the fastest firing auto rifles in Destiny 2. The weapon is excellent for taking out smaller enemies in PvE content. However, the Outsider has a stability problem due to the high rate of fire.
Therefore, you should focus on stability and range when selecting perks. These are the best perk combinations for the Outsider:
- Sight – Monarch Sight K1, Twilight Sight D1, Twilight Point D1
- Magazine – High Caliber Rounds, Stable Rounds, Lightweight Mag, Extended Mag
- Perk 1 – Zen Moment, Dynamic Recoil Direction, Tap the Trigger
- Perk 2 – Rampage, Explosive Rounding, Under Pressure
The sights are a matter of taste; however, according to Redditor pandapaxxy, they provide a clear view of your surroundings and are not distracting. For the magazine, high-caliber rounds are the best choice as they stagger targets and increase your range.
For the first available perk, you should definitely consider Zen Moment, as this perk ensures that every hit increases your stability. Thus, you can hit stable and efficiently on boss enemies with the auto rifle where it hurts.
Rampage increases your damage with each kill you secure. A small note here: Rampage is currently one of the best attributes you can find on a weapon in Forsaken.
The best perks for PvP content: The weapon can also be impressive in the Crucible, as long as you are skilled shooters and stand not too far from your target. Stability should be your main priority in fights against other Guardians, so you should look for the following perks:
- Sight – Twilight Sight D1, Twilight Point D1, Monarch Sight K1
- Magazine – High Caliber Rounds, Stable Rounds, Extended Mag
- Perk 1 – Tap the Trigger, Snapshot, Zen Moment
- Perk 2 – Explosive Rounding, Under Pressure, Rampage
High-caliber rounds also help you in PvP to shake the opponent’s aim. This effect is further enhanced by the high rate of fire of the Outsider. “Tap the Trigger” ensures that the first bullets from your magazine are more stable and accurate – very helpful!
At least in the Crucible, the Rampage perk takes a step back, as you must secure a kill first to notice an effect. Explosive Rounding, on the other hand, is always activated (the last rounds in a magazine deal more damage).
