With the release of the Forsaken expansion, the Gambit mode arrives in Destiny 2. Bungie has now explained how to obtain rewards and how the progression system works.
With Forsaken, Guardians will have plenty to do – including in Gambit, the new PvEvP mode. Gambit combines cooperative PvE encounters with PvP elements and aims to be attractive to both casual players and hardcore fans alike.
Now Bungie has shared details about the reward and progression system of the upcoming hybrid mode for the first time.
The Infamy ranking system and rewards in Gambit
Infamy ranking system similar to Valor in PvP: The progression system in Gambit will function similarly to the Valor ranks in the Crucible. In Gambit, the system is called Infamy. It features six ranks:
- Guardian
- Brave
- Heroic
- Famous
- Mythic
- Legendary
Here’s how to level up: By participating in Gambit matches, Guardians earn points and work their way up the Infamy ranks.
Change regarding the ranks: The ranks from Guardian to Mythic have been split into three tiers per rank. These tiers are meant to provide players with more short-term goals and rewards that can be achieved in a few sessions, rather than working towards them over several weeks. The Legendary rank remains unaffected by this change.
Winning streaks: Just like in the Crucible, there will be winning streaks for multiple consecutive victories, which can stack up to five times and accelerate your progression. Winning streaks grant bonus points and are not reset until a match is lost. If you join an ongoing match, the streak will also not reset in case of a loss. There will also be points for losses, but fewer than for wins.
Bounties: Points can also be earned through daily Gambit bounties that you receive from the Drifter. Once you reach level 50 with your character, the Drifter will also offer a weekly bounty. This weekly bounty awards a significant amount of Infamy points and allows for larger jumps on the way to Legendary.
Rewards: And as you work your way up rank by rank towards Legendary, there will be new rewards from the Drifter in the form of Gambit-specific weapons and armor pieces. In addition, the Daily Bounties are expected to offer different rewards as well. The weekly bounty guarantees a powerful piece of gear upon successful completion.
