The previous shader system of Destiny 2 has been under constant criticism. Since shaders are consumables in Destiny 2. Bungie is now responding to the critique and will establish a new system with Forsaken.

Guardians unhappy with single-use shaders: Before the release of Destiny 2, hardly anyone would have thought of how much criticism would arise about the shader system of the second series installment. Because shaders behave like consumables in Destiny 2 so far.
Once a shader is used on an armor piece or weapon, it is consumed and cannot be used again – unless you have already found or purchased multiple copies of it.
The fact that many of the most popular shaders must therefore be found piece by piece or are hidden behind the Eververse has so far caused a lot of frustration and anger among players. Furthermore, unpopular shaders, of which players have sometimes accumulated nearly a thousand, can only be deleted individually.

With the autumn expansion Forsaken, this issue will now be addressed.
Found shaders can be drawn from collections
Similar to kiosks: Project Lead Scott Taylor stated in an interview at E3 2018 that in the Forsaken addon, shaders can be directly drawn from the newly implemented collections. This feature will be found in the form of an additional tab in the character menu.

As already shown in the reveal stream for the Forsaken expansion, the collections include all legendary and exotic gear as well as shaders, ghost shells, sparrows, and more.
The collection functions similarly to the kiosk from Destiny 1 or the exotic collection in the vault in Destiny 2. In exchange for certain materials or for glimmer, items already obtained can be drawn again from the collection.
Taylor confirmed that shaders can also be drawn from the collection, but did not specify which materials or how much glimmer would be needed for it.

So it looks like in the future, players will only need to acquire shaders once, so they can reproduce them from the collections as often as they want – provided they have sufficient required materials.
Mass deletion of shaders is coming: With Forsaken and the accompanying update 2.0.0, mass deletion of shaders will also be introduced. What initially sounds like a bad April fool’s joke is actually a highly anticipated feature and should make many players a little happier again. Because so far, each individual shader had to be painstakingly deleted one by one.
What do you think of this change? Is it a reconciliatory solution? Or would you have wished for a different method?
