Bungie announced which Power weapons in Destiny 2 will soon lose their elemental damage and will no longer be able to be equipped in the Power slot. The studio also revealed how to set the final element of most Year 1 elemental weapons for Forsaken.
A week before the launch of the Forsaken expansion, Update 2.0.0 will already introduce the new weapon slot system in Destiny 2. In this context, some weapon categories that were previously exclusively in the Power slot will move to other slots.
Some Power weapons from the first year will even lose their elemental damage and become kinetic. We have summarized the key changes for you.
From Power weapon to Kinetic firearm
From Power to Kinetic: Once the Patch 2.0.0 – the preload for Forsaken – arrives on August 28, there will already be the first major changes in Destiny 2. Among other things, the new weapon slots will already be introduced. These Year 1 weapons that currently still find themselves in the Power slot will then become kinetic:
- Baligant
- Refuge of the Shepherd
- Hawthorne’s field-forged shotgun
- Solitary God
- Perfect Paradox
- The Cool Jackal
- Silicon Neurom
All these firearms will require special, that is, green ammunition, and can be equipped in one of the two quick slots.
Important: As the weapons will be automatically shifted, you should ensure that you have enough free weapon slots in your inventory and enough space at the post office, so that there are no issues during the transition.
Determine the final element of your weapons
Elemental mods will soon be gone: As part of the revised mod system, which will also be introduced with Forsaken, elemental damage mods will disappear. Henceforth, it will no longer be possible to change the damage element of your weapons.
Set your desired element: For most weapons, you can determine the final element, which will then also be permanently transferred to Forsaken. Until August 28, you have time to give your desired element to the weapons of your choice through appropriate mods. The elemental damage that the weapons will have on August 28 will be adopted for Forsaken and can no longer be changed thereafter.
The exceptions: An exception to this is the mentioned Year 1 Power weapons that will become kinetic and the two IKELOS Power weapons – namely the shotgun and the sniper rifle – from the escalation protocol, which will both be set to solar damage.
