The Forsaken expansion for Destiny 2 will give Guardians the opportunity to boost their characters to a level that enables them to immediately tackle the new content of the autumn expansion. We have the details on character boosting.

New and returning players will have the chance to elevate their newly created or existing characters to a higher level with the release of the Forsaken add-on in September 2018, allowing them to dive directly into the Forsaken content. A boost feature makes this possible.
Boost lets you start with Forsaken immediately if desired
Here’s how the boost feature works: The boost will function similarly to the Spark of Light – the boost item from Destiny 1. This allowed a new or under-leveled character to be elevated to a higher level, saving a significant portion of the lengthy leveling process.
However, there is a significant difference: While the Spark of Light was a consumable item in the players’ inventory, the Forsaken boost will be an additional option on the character selection screen of Destiny 2. This option will be available when launching the Forsaken expansion on September 4, 2018.

Another difference from the Spark of Light: With the boost option, players not only receive a character boost up to the level cap of the previous DLC but also the ability to skip the campaign and all other Year 1 content. According to Bungie, players will be positioned to immediately dive into all the new Forsaken content without having to clear the old content first.
For newcomers and returnees: New players can thus skip the entire Year 1 content if they wish and immediately plunge into the new content of Forsaken. Returnees get the chance to catch up to the previous power level cap with their main, secondary, or even tertiary character.
Are there any limitations? Everyone who purchases the Forsaken add-on will receive one free character boost. Additional boosts can be purchased if desired. However, details on pricing are not yet known.
What do you think of this boost option? A good way for Bungie to engage newcomers and returnees?
