New info about Curse of Osiris! All of this brings the first expansion of Destiny 2 – higher max level and “new” old exotics.
Currently, the “Paris Games Week 2017” is taking place. It started earlier this week with a strong PlayStation livestream. Many new AAA games were teased and the first expansion of Destiny 2 was revealed with a trailer.
This expansion is called “Curse of Osiris” and will be released on December 5, 2017, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It tells a story about the powerful Warlock Osiris, the Vex, and Mercury. Along with new characters and locations, there will also be new strikes, new open-world activities, new items, a new world quest, new raid content as well as the Lighthouse as a social space.
These were the details that the responsible parties released together with the “Curse of Osiris” trailer. However, new findings have since emerged from the Paris Games Week as well as some exciting discoveries from the official trailer as Light. We summarize this information.
Power Level 330 will be the new goal
At the Paris Games Week, Bungie officials held a presentation for selected press representatives. Within 11 minutes, Bungie listed a checklist of things we are allowed to know about “Curse of Osiris”.
In addition to the already mentioned features, these were mentioned:
- The character level rises to 25 (previously 20) and the power level rises to 330 (previously 305). It is not known whether the mods are already included in these 330 or not. Presumably, it goes up to 335.
- An important new “character” will not only be Osiris but also Sagira. Sagira is Osiris’s ghost, who will guide us through the DLC. It is the first time we will speak with another ghost in Destiny.
- Brother Vance returns. He was the NPC for the Trials of Osiris in Destiny 1.
- In Curse of Osiris, there will be plenty of backstory about the Vex.
- A PlayStation-exclusive Crucible map is coming.
- In November, Bungie will hold several livestreams to present Curse of Osiris in more detail.
What does the official reveal trailer for Curse of Osiris reveal?
Meanwhile, numerous Guardians have been analyzing the official reveal trailer. Exciting discoveries have come to light – including exotics!
First: Here you see the Lighthouse, the new social space in Destiny 2. A character is seen in the middle. Who this is is unknown, but it could be a new vendor where you can redeem Mercury tokens for loot:
Interestingly, shortly after, a scene is shown where the Lighthouse is destroyed. At first glance, one might think this scene is part of the Reef, but it is definitely the Lighthouse in ruins:
This is likely a glimpse into the dark future that will occur if we cannot stop the Vex. Or we travel through time in Destiny 2. What this scene means can currently only be speculated about.
A particularly exciting scene follows directly after. We see Osiris for the first time – and he appears to be in the Glass Chamber, where he is fighting the Vex. In the middle of this battle, other Guardians can be seen in the background, seemingly frozen in time – they are not moving. Osiris seems to be the last Guardian who can resist the Vex:
I am looking forward to the complete cutscene. It will probably reveal a lot about the backstory of Osiris.
This pretty weapon can be discovered in the trailer – probably exotic. Some speculate that it could be the “No Time For Explanations” from Destiny 1.
This is also a new weapon, likely a trace rifle similar to the Coldheart:
This is a Warlock with the Jade Rabbit. The Jade Rabbit is an exotic from Destiny 1 that was introduced with “King’s Fall” and was PlayStation-exclusive until Fall 2017:
This weapon is hard to see. It is the Telesto. This exotic fusion rifle was nicknamed Telesto “the Besto” in Destiny 1:
