On Tuesday, a patch is coming for Destiny 2. In addition to many changes to the game itself, the update could also advance the story of Destiny 2: It is about breaking a curse and finding the 15th wish.
This is why the story of Destiny 2 is so complicated: Forsaken told a new story about Destiny 2, but it did not conclude it.
The story of Forsaken ended in a complex stalemate. The final boss of the raid “Last Wish”, Riven, cast a curse over the Dreaming City, which traps the Guardians in an eternal struggle.
The “Dreaming City” is cursed, and as long as the curse is not broken, the story does not progress but simply repeats itself over and over.
The characters of Destiny 2 know that they are stuck in this situation, which apparently has no way out. They are trapped.
How the story progresses in Destiny 2: Destiny 2 does not really continue the story of Forsaken in its DLCs, but takes its own paths:
- In the first DLC, it’s about forges
- The second DLC will revolve around Gambit
- and in the third DLC “Penumbra”, Bungie apparently has something completely different planned, but does not reveal yet what they are exactly planning
However, it does not look like we will return to the current “main story” in the DLCs.
Forsaken itself is not concluded but continues to tell its story every week.
Thus, players can complete a quest with each reset to offer a sacrifice to the Oracle and then make contact with the Queen, Mara Sov. She is supposed to break the curse.
This is what the Queen is doing: In the past few weeks, there has been a quarrel between the players’ Ghost and the Queen:
The Ghost urged Mara Sov to finally take action and resolve the frustrating stalemate.
But Mara Sov became angry and confronted the Ghost, stating that it had no idea how difficult her situation was.
In the past week, there was a rather calm cutscene in the Oracle. Petra Venj spoke to the Queen and told her that they were ready for the great battle.
This will change on Tuesday: The YouTuber UnknownPlayer explains in a video why he thinks the story might take a new turn on Tuesday, January 29:
- The situation is worsening, as seen in the recent dialogues
- It is the 7th visit of the Queen and the number 7 plays a significant role for Bungie – because every three weeks, one is allowed into the throne room of the Queen and this cycle starts for the 7th time
- On Tuesday, a “content patch” is coming, and the quest for “The Last Word” is supposed to return
- And it is expected that the Queen will address the resurrection of her brother, Uldren Sov – who is a strong candidate for the position of “Hunter Vanguard”
Data miners also once assumed that it would take 7 cycles to break the curse.
So there are many indications that on Tuesday, the story of Forsaken will continue or even be nearing an end.
This is still interesting: Another puzzle might be related to the “breaking of the curse”: The 15th wish in the “Wish Wall” of Destiny has still not been found.
PlayerUnknown believes this could be the wish that Riven used to curse the Dreaming City. Perhaps this wish could lead to the curse being broken. Maybe this puzzle will also be solved in the coming days.
The 15th wish is the final wish in the secret space – the raid is also titled “Last Wish.”
Perhaps we will experience not only changes to the weapons of Destiny 2 and the super abilities next Tuesday but also an advancement of the story.
