Bungie fixes the long wait times in matchmaking that crept in with the update 2.0.0 in Destiny 2. However, the broken PvP player search remains untouched.
After the release of Patch 2.0.0 for Destiny 2, numerous Guardians report longer load times and lags in PvP. The community assumed that the broken matchmaking in Quickplay was fixed again to the annoyance of many players.
As Bungie has now confirmed again, this is not the case. The matchmaking has not been changed. However, the problem with the long wait times has been addressed.
Wait times problem fixed, SBMM still disabled
Matchmaking still broken: As the studio confirmed on Twitter, a fix for all matchmaking services has been released to counteract the long wait times in the Crucible and other activities. The Skill Based Matchmaking (SBMM) remains disabled.
Community remains divided: While many fans prefer the skill-based matchmaking, i.e. SBMM, there are also numerous Guardians who enjoy the broken matchmaking.
Because ever since a bug has crept in with the July update 1.2.3, which disabled the Skill Based Matchmaking, many players have reportedly had so much fun in the Crucible like never before. Comments and posts on various platforms are asking Bungie not to fix the broken matchmaking.

Bungie sticks to its line: When the SBMM problem first appeared in July, the studio stated that a quick fix was not to be expected. They do not want to act immediately but rather observe the development of the Quickplay list first and then develop a corresponding solution.
The developers apparently still hold to their words and keep the Skill Based Matchmaking disabled even after the latest fix. Whether the current state of the Crucible will change anytime soon remains to be seen.
Because even after the latest fix, Bungie stated they would continue to keep an eye on matchmaking. All other changes will be communicated openly to the players.
What do you think of the current state of the Crucible? Are you having fun? Or has that changed since the deactivation of SBMM?
