Destiny 2 received a “hotfix” on June 3, but it made significant changes. In addition to extensive adjustments for Stasis, Bungie also worked on the new raid “Vault of Glass.” Some raiders will have to sweat a bit more for their loot.
Even in Season 14, things are still not running smoothly in Destiny 2, which is why, on the evening of June 3, there was a new update for Bungie’s action MMO.
Although it was “only” a relatively small hotfix, it primarily addressed one of the hottest and most controversial topics of the past six months: Stasis. The icy powers have been robbing many players of their enjoyment since their introduction, and after some moderate adjustment attempts, there was now a massive nerf. However, other areas of the game were also addressed, including the new Hunter Exotic, The Sixth Coyote, which has finally been fixed, and there are noteworthy changes for raid enthusiasts. You can no longer kill Atheon helplessly, and you no longer need to pack the Prometheus Lens.
Popular boss exploits are now history
What exactly was the problem? After its introduction on May 22, not everything went smoothly in the new “Vault of Glass” raid – with positive and negative side effects for the players.
For example, it was possible to circumvent certain mechanics with the final boss Atheon, making it significantly easier to send him to the virtual afterlife. This made it easier to obtain the coveted raid loot. There were two methods that were repeatedly used in numerous raid groups. Some players only killed the final boss this way.
In exchange, there was also a problem with the relic, which did not consistently block enemy damage.
This has now changed in detail: The new update has now resolved most of the known inconsistencies in the new raid.
The most important changes include:
- A problem was resolved where players could kill Atheon in the Venus Future Portal before starting the encounter.
- A problem was resolved where players could kill Atheon by linking bidders while destroying themselves.
Thus, the two popular exploits during the boss battle are now history. There, to obtain the coveted raid loot, one must now honestly defeat the Vex boss Atheon in the intended manner – and not everyone likes that. Some players have already been heard saying: “Then we’ll only go up to Atheon and skip him. There’s nothing good to get from him anyway (especially if you already have the Vex Mythoclast), so the effort isn’t worth it.”
Additionally, the following has changed in the new raid:
- A problem was resolved where players could break Minotaur shields with the Prometheus Lens in the Gatekeeper encounter.
- “Vault of Glass” armor mods are now displayed in the Collections tab.
- A problem was resolved where the Aegis artifact’s defensive ability did not consistently block damage.
The trick with the Prometheus Lens was basically the preparation for the Atheon cheese. It allowed players to easily succeed in the Gatekeeper phase and then immediately kill Atheon on Venus without him being able to fight back.
The artifact should now provide consistent protection from enemy fire. This benefits players who now have to play through the phase “normally.”
