In Destiny 2 often has quirky bugs at the start of a new season, forcing developers to temporarily disable equipment and weapons. This time, an exotic weapon is being disabled for good reason.
Which weapon is broken? This is the exotic Scout Rifle “The Jade Rabbit.” Although the weapon had its place in PvP, Bungie wanted to further improve the weapon. The exotic perk was not as Bungie had hoped, which is why it was changed for Season 19 as follows:
- Three quick consecutive critical hits return a bullet to the magazine and increase the next body shot damage
- Up to three increased body shot hits can be generated
- The effect resets when you reload
The new exotic effects sound good, but they haven’t worked as they should. Instead of equipping the Jade Rabbit with the damage buff, all weapons in your inventory were buffed.
Bug turns every weapon into a DPS machine
Due to this unintended effect, Bungie completely disabled the Jade Rabbit for the time being. So you can’t equip it in any activity, only pull it from your collection. To illustrate how powerful the bug was, YouTuber Nodnahs made a comparison:
You can see how the YouTuber triggers the weapon’s effect and easily switches his weapon afterwards. As usual, triggered exotic perks are usually disabled when switching weapons. However, the damage buff remained with his legendary weapons from the Jade Rabbit.
This allowed hand cannons to take down enemies with two shots. Even rocket launchers were equipped with more damage. So it’s understandable that such a significant flaw led to a deactivation.
When will the weapon be available again? Unfortunately, that’s still unknown. Yesterday, a new update for Destiny 2 was released, but it did not include a fix for the Jade Rabbit. So it’s questionable when the good scout rifle can be actively used again.
However, since many studios, including Bungie, will soon be taking a winter vacation, it is possible that the fix will not come until the new year 2023. But we will keep you updated with the most important updates, even during the winter days, so stay tuned!
