In Destiny 2, Bungie finally comments on the Solar Week that was discovered in the datamining.
Here’s what the Solar Week is about: In mid-July, a dataminer published information about the summer event “Solstice of Heroes”, which he found in the game data. This information subsequently turned out to be correct.
However, the datamining also revealed two “contents” that have yet to make it into the game:
- The Solar Week
- and probably a new exotic rocket launcher, which could be related to the Solar Week.
According to the datamining info, Lord Saladin will announce a week at some point to celebrate Solar energy. During this week, Solar subclass paths will be improved, vendors in the Tower will offer quests for Solar Guardians, and there will be new Solar emotes in Eververse.
The problem with the Solar Week: So far, Bungie has not provided any official information on it. And while the past Arc Week was explicitly listed in a roadmap from Bungie, there is no trace of the Solar Week in the latest roadmap. This roadmap shows the content that is still supposed to happen before Shadowkeep:
Interestingly, Bungie has now announced a community challenge for early September, which is also not listed in the roadmap.
“Don’t always trust datamining”
This is what Bungie says about the Solar Week: A Guardian wrote on reddit a few hours ago: “I am a simple man. I see the TWAB [This Week at Bungie] and hope for news about the Solar Week.” However, since there is no mention of the Solar Week in this weekly letter to the community, community manager dmg04 responded on reddit:
“We currently have no plans for a Solar Week. Sorry for the bad news, I’m just stating the facts.
We have neither communicated a [Solar Week] nor shown it on a roadmap. If we ever hold one, you will hear it from us.”

This means: It looks grim that a Solar Week in Destiny 2 will start anytime soon – despite the datamining results.
- Either Bungie has scrapped the Solar Week because they need to focus on other things right before the Shadowkeep launch.
- Or the Solar Week might still start unexpectedly at some point. After all, Bungie always proves more and more that they throw nothing away.
- And it’s also possible that Bungie only included this text in the game files to lead curious Guardians astray.
This is what Bungie says about datamining: In addition to the response quoted above, dmg04 also wrote a note in parentheses. One should not always trust datamining, according to the community manager.
In the past, items or upcoming content have often been discovered in datamining that either did not make it into the game or came much later. One of the most prominent lines is the Wardcliff Coil, which had its first traces in the data as early as year 2 of Destiny 1 and caused speculation for 2 years as a microphone rocket launcher.
That we will also have to wait 2 years for the Solar Week – just like on the Wardcliff Coil – is rather unlikely.
