Destiny 2 offers you, thanks to Witch Queen, not only a new, exciting campaign, but also a side story in the form of the new Season 16. Here, the Cabal and Guardians fight together against the Hive threat in the new mode “PsiOps Battlegrounds” together.
What kind of mode is this? This is the new seasonal activity of Destiny 2. In Season 16, the Cabal and Guardians work together on a strategy to drive the Radiant Brood away from various known locations. The mode is somewhat similar to the battlegrounds from Season 13. However, Bungie has introduced some new features to bring fresh air to it.

Relaxed fighting against Light’s Hive Warriors
What makes the mode better than its predecessor? In the PsiOps Battlegrounds, the Guardians are sent to known locations to free them from the Hive. If you participated in the Season of Caiatl, you will notice some similarities. But Bungie has learned from the past: The new mode does not become boring, even after several runs.
This is what the new mode does differently from the old battlegrounds:
- New enemies in the form of Hive Guardians who heat up the combat
- Old locations offer refreshed environments in the Hive style
- Cool thought journeys let you dive into the mind of the Radiant Brood
- The seasonal artifact can finally be used as a weapon
- Cabal work and fight with us
With the new enemy types and the inception journeys into the thoughts of the Radiant Brood, the activity feels good. Bungie has also taken a step further and made the seasonal artifact weaponized specifically for the activity.
Players can use the artifact to drain the light from the Hive Guardians and take them as hostages to the H.E.L.M. There, they will be examined to find out how Savathûn was able to bathe her brood in light.
How do I access the mode? To do this, you need the season pass of “Season of the Risen.” If you have the pass, you just need to follow the story of Caiatl. This starts in the hangar, where Caiatl has parked her ship, with a discussion between the Cabal and the Vanguard.
If you want a little change from the Throne World and to collect some cool moments in an exciting environment with a three-man fireteam, you should definitely try this mode!
What do you think of the newly revamped Battlegrounds mode of Season 16? Do you find it tedious or do you enjoy taking down Hive Guardians? Let us know!
