In Destiny 2 there have been snowballs lying around the Tower since the first Dawning event. Now, Bungie has changed their function again, making them more useful than ever. Here’s why you should use them and how powerful they are, you can find out here on MeinMMO.
What are snowballs in Destiny 2? In Destiny 2, they were the snow-covered areas in the Guardians’ social space. There, players could pick up a snowball and throw it at fellow Guardians.
As a result, Guardians could have some fun and start a snowball fight. If you were hit by a snowball, you would be slowed down and could not pick up another projectile for a certain time.
For the Dawning event 2021, Bungie thought of something different and transformed this nice little feature into something more useful. Now you can use them again in combat, upgrade them, and benefit from them.
Snowballs are useful tools in combat
Due to Bungie’s change, you can find snowballs again in selected activities and all over Europe. They prove to be very useful as they can freeze and even kill enemies.
Eva Levante, the organizer of the winter event, also offers numerous upgrades that make your snowballs more effective and deadly. For this, you only need 20 Dawning Spirit per upgrade, which you can get through bounties, delivering cookies, or collecting ingredients with the ship “Starfarer 7M”.
What upgrades are available? There are five upgrades that build on each other. You cannot just buy the last upgrade; you must first acquire the previous ones. Here are all upgrades with effects:
- Long Winter – Extends the duration of the snowball slow effect
- Even Longer Winter – Increases the slow effect on fighters who have taken damage from the snowball
- The Longest Winter – Snowballs instantly freeze enemies when they take damage
- Stay Cool – Snowballs leave a Stasis Mine upon impact
- Endless Gift – The shattering of frozen enemies causes them to drop snowballs
Does the mod “Focus Lens” also work? In the artifact of Season 15, there is a mod called “Focus Lens”. With this equipped in your class item, you can deal bonus damage to enemies affected by Stasis.
By giving the frosty balls the element “Stasis”, Bungie enables you to benefit from this mod. Simply freeze your enemies and finish them off with your Thundercrash or Nova Bomb.
What do you think of the revamped snowballs? Do you find them cool and helpful, or is that nothing for you? Do you prefer to rely on Agers Scepter? Let us know in the comments what you think.
