Can you still discover something in Destiny 2 or is everything already known before the release?
The release of Destiny 2 is just less than two months away. In advance, Bungie and Activision are heavily promoting it. They held a dedicated gameplay premiere event in May, released several trailers, are present at all major gaming events, and conducted countless interviews – with the aim of getting players excited about Destiny 2 and driving the hype train.
Due to this extensive marketing campaign, we already know a lot about the Destiny sequel: We know the villain Ghaul and roughly the story of the main campaign, we are aware of the three new Guardian subclasses, and have already seen footage of the new worlds, new exotics, and new enemies.
Moreover: Throughout July, IGN will be releasing almost daily exclusive info about Destiny 2. Many fans are asking and fearing: Is there anything left to discover at the launch of Destiny 2? Or do we already know everything in advance? Hardly anyone can escape all the spoilers.
Nothing beats “Vault of Glass” moments
With all the information flood about Destiny 2 that has been ongoing for two months and is expected to continue for another two months, Guardians have concerns:
- For many Guardians, there is nothing more exciting or tempting about Destiny than the unknown. Every “Year 1” Guardian surely remembers the “Vault of Glass” moments when they excitedly traversed the chamber, turned over every stone, and felt like explorers. And the more we know about Destiny 2, the less unknown content there is. There’s less to discover on your own.
However, there are not only concerns about what Bungie says, but also about what Bungie does not say:
- Currently, there is a concern that there will only be six subclasses in Destiny 2 – the three new focuses and the revamped Striker, Voidwalker, and Gunslinger. The reason for this concern is that Bungie has not mentioned anything about further focuses so far. And a statement like “There will be plenty of subclasses in Destiny 2” would be strong advertising.
Some users interpret Bungie’s behavior as: “We only have six subclasses, but we won’t say that until we have your money!”
Much will not be revealed before the launch, says Bungie
Some Guardians asked Bungie what will happen with the remaining subclasses (Nightstalker, Dawnblade, Stormcaller) in Destiny 2. Project Lead Mark Noseworthy responded:
There are many things we will not announce or reveal before September 6.
They want the community to also have memories of shared discovery in Destiny 2.
So if you’re having panic attacks thinking you might know everything before the launch of Destiny 2, you can rest assured. There will still be plenty to discover.
For example, Bungie will not talk about new raids at all before the launch. These are the big unknown activities where you can fully embrace your spirit of discovery. At least for a few days. Because the global Guardian community will certainly solve all the secrets in Destiny 2 in record time.
