The new Universal Armor Ornaments from Destiny 2 are well received by fans, but many Guardians feel they don’t go far enough. Many wish for even more freedom for this system. What do you think?
These are the Universal Armor Ornaments: With the release of Shadowkeep, Destiny 2 introduced the so-called Universal Armor Ornaments alongside the new Armor 2.0 system.
This allows the appearance of all legendary armor pieces to be changed with the new “Armor 2.0” standard – the existing stats and used mods remain unaffected. In principle, it is a kind of transmog system in the style of World of Warcraft.
This means that Guardians no longer have to make compromises between functionality and aesthetics – at least that is the basic idea.
What is the problem with the ornaments? What many criticize about this system: The selection of universal ornaments and thus the alternative appearances is, with some exceptions, limited to armor pieces from the Eververse sets that you have already earned or purchased, as well as ornaments from the Season Pass. Vanguard and Crucible items can also still have their corresponding ornaments applied.
This reduces the selection significantly compared to what some Guardians would wish. Many were surprised when they realized that not all variants of already found legendary armors could be used as ornaments.
What do the Guardians demand? Many players consider Armor 2.0 with the universal ornaments to be a step in the right direction. However, some feel that the new freedoms do not go far enough, and according to some Guardians, the system was not thought through consistently.
Many Guardians are now demanding on Reddit that all legendary armor pieces can be used as universal ornaments on other “counterparts”. This would make many fans happy.
Because it would allow playing with the desired stats and mods without compromise, using the appearance one likes most. With the current state of the system, this is only limitedly possible due to the restriction to the Eververse sets.
