Recently, we wanted to know from you at MeinMMO where in Destiny 2 you prefer to roam. Now we have evaluated the survey, and the result shows: You fluctuate between “Lord of the Rings” vibes and nostalgic spots from the predecessor.
What is the survey about? Whether a devastated Earth, a colorful alien planet, or a fantastic fairy tale world with a dragon – the Destiny franchise has created some really cool locations that stay in your memory.
Besides all the shooting, there are indeed a few picturesque spots to admire when you send your Guardian on a journey through the solar system.
We took this as an opportunity to ask you in a survey where you prefer to stay in Destiny 2.
Places 1 – 3 show: You love nostalgia and Forsaken
A total of 1,478 readers participated in our survey – with the following result:
Earth beats the Dreaming City – but only by a hair: The first place went to the European Dead Zone (EDZ) on Earth. However, the result was super close, with only 2 Guardians voting for the fairy-tale home of the Awoken in the Reef, which thus landed in a “mere” second place.
- 24% (343 votes) went to the EDZ
- Also 24% (but with 341 votes) were attributed to the Dreaming City
The nostalgia location par excellence landed in third place – the Moon.
- 18% of the survey participants voted for the Hive-infested earthly satellite. That corresponds to 258 votes.
For many a Guardian, both the Earth and its Moon have nostalgic value. After all, many players took their first steps as Guardians right there.
Especially the Cosmodrome on Earth, which can only be briefly visited in Destiny 2, is noted by many as their favorite location. Therefore, it is probably also why the EDZ on Earth is so popular.
But the Moon, where you were already wandering during the Alpha and Beta of Destiny 1, enjoys an absolute cult status among many and is therefore also very popular in Destiny 2.
And the fact that the Forsaken expansion not only brought some of the best content for Destiny 2 in the eyes of numerous Guardians but also has a phenomenal world to offer, is shown by the performance of the Dreaming City. This location is often compared with the homeland of the Elves from the “Lord of the Rings” films due to its aesthetics.
Here’s what our readers say:
- SneaX: “Earth and Moon. But the best area remains the grave ship…”
- Lars says: “Clearly – the Dreaming City!”
- Wrubbel believes: “Moon or Dreaming City in the third curse week.”
- And GameFreakSeba believes: “Earth is definitely my favorite place. Ever since I set foot there for the first time, I just feel at home. The Moon is nostalgically also gladly visited and traveled.”

The alien world Nessus is also well-received: In fourth place, with 14% and 215 votes, is the colorful planet Nessus. This place is characterized by its colorful nature, massive Vex milk-falls, a gigantic crashed spaceship, and all sorts of Vex architecture.
This mix clearly appeals to many a Guardian.
MeinMMO reader Sirius says: “Nessus… And the music is great too”
Then, in a bit of a slump follow:
- with 7% (105 votes) the Red Planet Mars
- with 6% (99 votes) the Tangled Shore in the Reef
These locations may not be among the top favorites, but even here, some Guardians still like to hang out. Especially the popular Warmind setting around Rasputin on Mars or the revenge campaign against the Barons in the Tangled Shore may be remembered by some players.
For example, Snake says: “From D2 definitely Mars, because it reminds me a bit of Rubicon and Co. from D1…”
These places don’t really convince you
Down at the bottom, in the last 3 places lie the planets
- Titan (4%, 62 votes)
- Io (2%, 30 votes)
- Mercury (1%, 25 votes)
Mercury from the much-criticized “Curse of Osiris” DLC has always been considered the worst and most boring location in all of Destiny 2. Neither the current Season 9, nor the fact that you can finally ride Sparrows there could change that.
Could perhaps a possible return of the Trials shift opinions here? After all, we are apparently currently rebuilding the Lighthouse on Mercury.
Also, Io with its many fossils and the mysterious Pyramidion building, as well as the water world Titan with its massive island facility, can inspire very few Guardians.
Were you surprised by the results? Or did you expect this outcome?
