In Destiny 2, fundamental changes are coming to the armor pieces. Additionally, exotic armors are already known.
In Destiny 1, three things determine the value of your armor:
- The Defense: This value reduces damage from enemies and contributes to your character’s light level (maximum 400)
- The Perks: These grant you special bonuses
- The Attributes: Intellect shortens the cooldown of your Super, Discipline that of your grenade, and Strength that of your melee. The higher these attributes, the more often you can use your abilities.
This tripartite division of gear stats will be dissolved in Destiny 2. The attributes will be removed, and armor pieces will then influence three other stats.
Destiny 2: All exotic armors – Here’s how to get Exotic Armor
Intellect, Discipline, and Strength – Farewell
The attributes Intellect, Discipline, and Strength will disappear in Destiny 2. This means that your armor pieces can no longer influence the cooldowns of the three abilities in this way. Moreover, there will also be a fourth ability in Destiny 2, the class ability.
In the character menu, the three attributes will be replaced by Armor, Agility, and Recovery:
- Armor: Increases the amount of damage you can take before you die
- Agility: Increases movement speed and maximum jump height
- Recovery: Increases the speed at which you regenerate lost health
Experienced Guardians will already be familiar with these values: They are displayed in Destiny 1 in the focus overview. Certain focus nodes can be adjusted there.
A look at already known focuses shows, however, that these focus nodes will be absent in Destiny 2. In other words, it will no longer be the focus, but rather the armor pieces that will determine armor, agility, and recovery. This will likely open up more possibilities to influence these individually.
In the character menu, the three values are displayed with a bar indicator for each armor piece:
Armor pieces still have a defensive value (here 200) and perks. Previously known perks:
- Additional mobility at the cost of “shield strength” (and vice versa)
- Grenades recharge faster (the cooldowns of the abilities can therefore be reduced in Destiny 2 through perks)
- Improved weapon handling
- Class ability charges faster
By the way: The classification into helmet, gloves, chest armor, leg armor, and class items remains. The slot filled with artifacts in Destiny 1 was locked with a lock symbol during the gameplay premiere.
Exotic Armor Pieces in Destiny 2
We have already presented numerous exotic weapons from Destiny 2. However, a few exotic armor pieces have also been spotted when the developers talked about the Exotics.
These are Titan gauntlets with violet glowing horns:
Only the gloves are exotic; the other armor pieces have already been discovered on other Titans:
So far, there is no information on shaders in Destiny 2, but a look at these two images suggests that we can color the armor pieces differently again.
This image also shows an Exotic. Most likely, the helmet is the exotic item, as it definitely has a striking design:
Lastly, this Warlock chest piece with an extravagant look was shown:
The front is adorned with golden embellishments, and in the center is a red, ruby-like stone. However, the real highlight is seen on the back – golden wings:
What exotic perks these armor pieces possess is still unclear. However, it can be assumed that this Warlock chest piece will enhance the Dawnblade subclass.
What do you think of these Exotics?
