Just before the official reveal of Season 15 and the Witch Queen expansion of Destiny 2, the name of the new season has leaked along with some additional details. Bungie has now confirmed this, and the first official teaser promises an exciting story.

What is this leak about? A prematurely published advertisement on the page of the well-known gaming accessories provider Razer recently leaked the name of the upcoming Season 15. It also prominently featured the missing queen of the Awoken, Mara Sov, as well as the characteristic three eyes of the Hive in the background.
Although the advertisement quickly disappeared, the cat was out of the bag, and Bungie apparently did not want to wait any longer.
What we officially know about Season 15 now
Shortly thereafter, the studio confirmed the official name of the next season via Twitter and posted a teaser image along with a few words. Just that alone already promises excitement for the upcoming season – at least story-wise.
The name of Season 15 is: The new season will be called “Season of the Lost” in English, and in German, it will presumably be “Saison der Verlorenen.” However, the German name has not yet been officially announced.
When does Season 15 exactly start? Bungie has also revealed this on Twitter after announcing the season’s name. The Season of the Lost starts on Tuesday, August 24 – right after the Destiny 2 Showcase, where the Witch Queen expansion, and likely Season 15 itself, will be presented. The season is expected to start at the usual time, around 7:00 PM with the weekly reset.
This is the teaser: The official image from Bungie also features Queen Mara Sov, and the Warlock Osiris is seen – both somewhere in the Dreaming City, the home of the Awoken.
Both the long-lost sister of Uldren Sov, the murderer of Cayde-6 (now a Guardian himself, with no memories of the past), and Osiris are apparently central to the new season. And that indeed promises an exciting seasonal story.
Why an exciting story? The name of the season and the shown characters further confirm (even more) some leaks, including the Pastebin leak (via reddit) and the infamous “Notepad” leak from January 2021. This leak comes from one of the most well-known and respected Destiny leakers, AnonTheNine, and contained numerous details about the future of Destiny 2 – including Seasons 12, 13, 14, and 15, as well as the Witch Queen expansion.
The exciting part: Since many pieces of info from both leaks have proven to be accurate, it is highly likely that the details about the new Season 15 and the upcoming major expansion could also be correct.
According to both leaks, things will get exciting in the new season: Mara has been missing for a long time and is supposed to (as now officially known) return in Season 15. The Dreaming City is set to take center stage, and the story of the Dreaming City and the Forsaken expansion, as well as the never-ending curse, will be concluded.
Also, around Osiris, who is officially confirmed for the new season, it will likely become exciting. In recent weeks, the Warlock, who is one of the greatest heroes of the Destiny universe, seems to have become entangled in more and more dubious dealings, even disappearing during the epilogue of Season 14. Many doubt whether this is really the Osiris we know and believe that he could be Savathûn herself. The leak also mentions that he was turned or replaced by Savathûn, the Witch Queen herself.
As for Crow, once Prince Uldren Sov, the brother of Mara and Cayde’s murderer, things might get exciting. He is now a Guardian, has no memory of his past deeds, presumably also not of his sister. It remains to be seen how the two will meet and what their future holds.
When will we officially know more? The eyes of many Guardians are likely turning towards August 24. On this day, the next major Destiny 2 expansion “Witch Queen” is supposed to be presented. Furthermore, it is expected that in this context, or perhaps during the pre-show, the new Season 15 will also be officially and extensively introduced.
The Destiny 2 Showcase for Witch Queen, essentially the most important Destiny stream of the year, starts on Tuesday, August 24, at 6 PM German time. The pre-show starts an hour earlier, at 5 PM.
