The new PvE event in Destiny 2 is called Escalation Protocol. In this endgame activity, you can regularly participate with up to two additional friends. However, a glitch makes it possible to tackle this event with up to 8 friends.
What is the Escalation Protocol? The Escalation Protocol from the Warmind DLC is a new type of public event with horde mode characteristics. Participants face the Hive in increasingly stronger waves. Each wave has a mini-boss, while the end boss awaits in the seventh wave. If you manage to send the final boss to the virtual afterlife, attractive unique loot awaits.
What is special about the glitch? The event is challenging and requires a larger and coordinated group, especially in its final phases. You usually depend on luck and the skill of the other players.
A maximum of three fireteams of three Guardians – so a maximum of 9 players – can participate in this event. Regularly, it is possible to start such an event with at most two friends. The remaining participants are all random and determined by chance.
However, there is also a way to tackle the Escalation Protocol with up to 8 friends. This can enhance your chances of victory. A recently discovered glitch makes it possible.
Escalation Protocol with 8 friends? Here’s how:
The mechanics behind the fast travel function on the map now allow players to gather with up to 9 friends and tackle this activity together. This even surpasses the size of a raid team. Previously, the maximum team size for group activities was 6 players.
If you want to make your life easier in the Escalation Protocol, you should consider the following:
- Gather all of you (max. 9 players) so that you can communicate with each other – whether through a party, WhatsApp group, TeamSpeak, or otherwise.
- Each of you starts solo into the game and flies to the location you agreed upon on Mars – do not form fireteams yet! This is extremely important and the only possible way!
- Once you land on Mars, use the fast travel function on the map until you meet one of your friends.
- When the first two meet, they will wait in this zone while the rest continues to use fast travel. Keep practicing this until three friends – solo and not as a fireteam – find themselves in the same zone.
- Pay special attention to the names – they are not highlighted in green and can be easily overlooked at first. Experience shows that coming together happens relatively quickly.
- Once three friends have found each other, each of them can invite up to two more players and then form a fireteam.
- This way, you can now tackle this activity with a total of up to 9 people. If you are playing with fewer players, you can adjust this system accordingly.
