Destiny 2: Enjoy the new top weapon – It certainly won’t stay that way for long

Currently, many Guardians are focused on the new exotic weapon Perfected Outbreak in Destiny 2. This firearm is really strong. However, this won’t last long, according to our author Sven.

This is the weapon in question: Since the weekly reset on May 7, many Guardians, including myself, currently have only one goal – the Perfected Outbreak, a new exotic weapon in Destiny 2, and its Masterwork Catalyst.

This pulse rifle essentially embodies the return of the beloved Outbreak Prime from Destiny 1. It is tied to a new quest line that culminates in a mission in the Ruined Tower on Earth.

How you can earn this new weapon exotic can be found here: Outbreak Prime is back – Here’s how to get the new weapon exotic

This is why the weapon is so popular among Guardians: The reason this weapon is currently the talk of the town has a solid foundation. Many fans are enjoying the new quest, but especially the new weapon.

Because the Outbreak performs exceptionally well in PvP and has proven to be an absolute top-tier weapon and a true boss killer in PvE – and that, despite being a primary weapon.

How the Perfected Outbreak performs in practice, you can find out here: Perfected Outbreak: How the new exotic weapon shakes up all of Destiny 2

This is how I see the new weapon: I am also excited about the weapon. Although I haven’t earned it yet, I was able to try it out with a friend.

Since then, it has become an absolute must-have for me, and I will do everything in my power to get it in my hands as quickly as possible. Firstly, because I think the weapon is simply phenomenal and truly deserves the designation of Exotic.

Secondly, for nostalgic reasons. Because in Destiny 1, it was already one of my absolute favorite exotics, alongside the Thorn. And now Bungie has even managed to improve it compared to the original, which is by no means a given.

But there’s another reason. I want to play this weapon in its current state for as long as possible. Because it is incredibly fun, but in my opinion, this won’t last long.

This is why I firmly expect a nerf: The Perfected Outbreak is currently an absolute top choice for me as a pulse rifle lover in PvP. Even against groups of smaller enemies and even against high-ranking foes, the weapon is a true monster.

However, what could jeopardize its current performance, and in my opinion will do so in the foreseeable future, is its performance in raids. There, the Outbreak can effectively melt any boss in seconds – and that, mind you, as a primary weapon.

Here you can see it in action against Calus:

This is why the weapon is so strong: This is due to the combination of the two perks “The Corruption Spreads” and “Parasitic”. Precision kills and fast hits generate homing SIVA nanite swarms that damage enemies while simultaneously making them more vulnerable to further fire.

Against Majors and bosses, SIVA nanites can spawn almost continuously, resulting in extreme damage values (up to 50,000 per shot – with a primary weapon) when used in conjunction. Because every user of the Outbreak benefits from all SIVA nanites from other players.

While raid bosses have also been pulverized with other weapons before, it usually requires heavy or at least special ammunition as well as stacking numerous buff effects.

However, the Prime doesn’t have to be put down and always has enough ammunition for continuous fire thanks to the Well of Radiance – no matter what type of enemy you are currently fighting. Other weapons thus become redundant against raid or strike bosses.

And that’s exactly why I don’t believe Bungie will leave the Outbreak in this form for long. Especially considering that the weapon will become significantly more powerful when Masterworked.

This is how the Outbreak will become even stronger in the future: With the Catalyst, the SIVA nanite swarms will cause higher damage. Additionally, kills of enemies still affected by nanites will release further nanites. The full damage potential is thus not yet fully tapped, even with the currently impressive performance.

When I expect a nerf: In my opinion, it is only a matter of time before the Perfected Outbreak will be nerfed – in whatever form that may occur again.

Personally, I suspect that Bungie will allow Guardians to enjoy the weapon until Season 7 and then nerf the weapon at the start of the season of opulence and the new raid “Crown of Sorrow”. Otherwise, the new bosses would likely be at risk of being incinerated by Outbreak teams in seconds.

What do you think? Will the weapon be nerfed soon? Do you think a nerf is justified? Or is the Perfected Outbreak in its current state just right for you?
