Nathan Fillion no longer voices Cayde-6 in the expansion Forsaken for Destiny 2 however, the voice actor still does not believe in the definitive death of the Hunter Leader.
When the first gameplay footage of Destiny 2: Forsaken surfaced, many fans immediately noticed that something was off with the English voice of Cayde. It didn’t sound like the original – voiced by Nathan Fillion. At this point, some already feared that Fillion might be done with Forsaken. And they were right.
Nolan North replaces Nathan Fillion as the English voice of Cayde-6
Fillion is not the English voice of Cayde in Forsaken: During the promotion of his new Uncharted short film, Fillion confirmed that he would not be lending his voice to Cayde in the Forsaken expansion. He was neither involved in the Forsaken promotional material nor in the Autumn expansion. “I was not available for Forsaken. It’s not me speaking as Cayde-6,” Fillion said.
The studio and the voice actor are not parting on bad terms – even though it might seem obvious to some that Bungie would not want to book its probably most expensive voice from Destiny 2 for a brief appearance for financial reasons. Fillion said he loves Cayde-6. However, due to his busy schedule, he was simply unable to participate in the project by the set deadline.
Fillion open to future projects: Nathan Fillion expressed his openness to potential future collaborations. He loves Cayde-6 and would be excited to work with Activision again – for example, on a prequel, that is, Cayde 1-5.
Even if that probably won’t happen, it shows that this does not necessarily mean the definitive end of collaboration between Fillion and Bungie. However, whether and in what role he might return is currently a matter of speculation.
Who voices Cayde in Forsaken? Fillion also addressed this question: “It’s a bit heartbreaking. But fortunately, it’s Nolan North. If the voice is going to someone else, then thankfully it’s someone I and the fans love. The character is in good hands,” said the departing voice of Cayde-6.
Nolan North already voices the Ghost in the English version of Destiny 2.
Fillion does not believe in the definitive death of Cayde: When asked about the upcoming death of Cayde-6, the voice actor said: “What do I think about Cayde-6? I love him dearly. What do I think about him dying? Personally, I don’t believe in that. He’s a Guardian. So he should be able to come back. I mean, that’s what Guardians do – they come back, right? It’s all about resurrection.”
As mentioned, Fillion did not work on Forsaken. So his statements should not be considered potential spoilers, but rather personal speculations from an outsider.
