In Destiny 2 the Iron Banner returns! This will be the first Iron Banner in Season 2, where there will be a few changes and new loot.
Lord Saladin, the leader of the Iron Banner, has not been in the Tower of Destiny 2 for months. The reason: At the beginning of December, Season 2 started, which changed some accessibility requirements for activities like the Iron Banner. To ensure that all Guardians – including those without the “Curse of Osiris” DLC – can participate in the Iron Banner again and earn its loot, Bungie had to deploy several updates first.
Now, at the end of January 2018, nothing stands in the way of Lord Saladin’s return. Here are all the details about the upcoming Iron Banner.
The first Iron Banner in 2018 – Game mode, start, end, loot
- Start of the Iron Banner: January 30 (Tuesday), expected around 9 PM (after maintenance)
- End of the Iron Banner: February 6 (Tuesday) at 6 PM
- Game mode: Control
In Season 2 you can earn the old weapons from Season 1 as well as additional new weapons, ornaments, and cosmetics.
Lord Saladin still has Iron Banner Engrams for you. In the first Iron Banner of Season 2, these three new weapons are available through the engrams:
Hand Cannon:
Scout Rifle:
Shotgun:
Additionally, these new items are available – a Sparrow, a Ghost Shell, and a badge: Furthermore, there will be an Iron Banner ship. Bungie has not revealed this yet; you will have to discover it in the game itself.
The Iron Banner items from Season 1 are also earned as random loot by opening the engrams at Lord Saladin.
By mastering the Iron Banner milestone, you will receive a badge that counts all your rank-ups in the Iron Banner.

You can see in the picture that Lord Saladin also has armor ornaments available. You unlock these by completing specific challenges. Each Iron Banner armor piece has an ornament. Here they are: There is no limit to how many engrams you can open or how many tokens you can earn.
